Charles Alexander McCarroll
Graveside services for Charles Alexander McCarroll, 90, were held on April 28, 1975 at 11 a.m. today in Riverside Cemetery with Dr. D. M. Spears officiating.
Mr. McCarroll died at 2 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 1975, in Jennie Stuart Hospital where he had been undergoing treatment for a broken hip suffered in a fall about a week ago.
A native of Christian County, Mr. McCarroll was born March 8, 1885, the son of Judge Joe McCarroll and Mary Holloway McCarroll.
He was born at the McCarroll home at 2nd and Main Streets, now the location of the Elks Lodge.
Mr. McCarroll attend old Clay Street School and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1910 as a mining engineer. After spending some years in the coal industry in Alabama, he was employed by the Penn-Dixie Cement Corp. in 1926, stationed mainly in Kingsport, Tennessee and Butler and Nazareth, PA.
He retired in 1956 and since then had resided at the family home in the county until recently when he was a patient at Brookfield Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. McCarroll was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
One brother, William S. McCarroll, of the county, survives. Six other McCarroll children preceded him in death.
