Death Claims Two Splendid Citizens
Death Comes to Mrs C.N. Morris Eight Days
Following that of Her Husband.
Two splendid Trigg county citizens were claimed by death recently when Mr C.N. Morris, 82 year old resident of
Siloam died February 17 and eight days later on February 25, Mrs Morris, 67, his wife, following him to the grave.
Both Mr and Mrs Morris had been sick for a time, suffering with flu, and complications, of rheumatism and asthma, and friends and neighbors had been giving them the most kind and considerate attention.
Mr Morris, who was known to many as "Mr. Charlie" was born Aug. 12, 1857, in Christian county, the son of Morton Morris and Lara Simmons Morris.
His parents originally came from Virginia and were among the pioneer settlers of Christian and Trigg counties.
He came to this county where he married Mrs Morris was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Tom Mitchell, also an early settler of this county. They had no children. They had lived for many years in the Siloam locality and made many lasting friends there as well as over other parts of the county.
Their contribution to the welfare of the community consisting of good will among their fellow men will last long after them and their presence will indeed be missed.
Funeral services were held for Mr Morris in February 18th at the home on account of the illness of Mrs Morris who couldn't be moved to the church, with Rev. Thomas Hinchee in charge of the services. Burial took place at the Turner graveyard following the services.
Mrs Morris was laid to rest February 26 by the side of her husband, just eight days following his internment.
Services for Mrs Morris were conducted by Rev. D.L. Vance. A large number of friends were present to pay a last respect to two people leaving a world where they had spent two useful lives in gracious living. Cadiz Record Feb 22 - 1940
