CHARLES B PHIPPSDeath of Mrs. Charles B Phipps
One of the saddest deaths that has occurred in this city was that of Mrs. Charles B. Phipps, at the residence of Mr. Tobe Smith, last Saturday.
The young husband, formerly a resident of this city, came from his home in Dodge City, Kansas, just before Christmas to claim his bride.
All the arrangements were made, and on December 27th, he was married to Miss Birdie Drake, at the residenceo f the bride's father near Greenville. Life to them was as bright as a summer's day. They were both vigorous and hopeful, and no one could have suspected the approach of the shadow so soon to cast a gloom of grief over the young husband's heart. They came almost immediately to this city to visit relatives.
About two weeks after the marriage the bride was stricken down with rheumatism. She continued to grow worse, and on Saturday death came to relieve her suffering. Her remains were carried to her home in Muhlenburg, Sunday, to be interred.
