Miss Lizzie Prather died in the asylum Tuesday of acuted dysentery after a brief illness. She was sent here from Webster county for treatment eight years ago. The remains were shipped to Slaughtersville, Wednesday for interment.

Mrs H.M. Prather 87 Year Old Resident Dies After Suffering Stroke
Funeral service were held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs H.M.PRATHER, prominent 87 year old resident of Cadiz who
died Tuesday morning near seven o'clock, April 23, 1940, following a paralytic stroke, which she suffered last
Thursday evening and from which she never rallied.
Mrs Prather's health failed her about five years ago and since that time she had been closely confined to her home.
The deceased was Martha Ann HENDRICKSs, daughter of
George and Jane BOYD HENDRICKS. She was born August 2, 1852 near Mershon Bridge, Trigg County. (Jane Boyd was the daughter of Archie BOYD and Elizabeth NOEL, Archie Boyd was the son of Abram the noted pioneer who located at Canton in 1799, who became the County Judge of Christian County before Trigg was established .BOYDBoyd was a brother of the famous Linn Boyd who represented the district in the Congress of the U.S. for 18 years.)
She was married on 24th of January 1872 to Rev. John J. ALEXANDER. After their marriage, they moved to the Siloam neighborhood, she held a fondness for this community and its people throughout her life. In the fall of 1893 they moved to Cadiz where she resided until her death.
Rev. Alexander died February 23, 1926.
To this union were born four children, two sons and two daughters. One girl died in infancy and the three surviving children are: J.B. ALEXANDER, Cadiz; Van B ALEXANDER, Cadiz; and Mrs Karl SWAFFORD Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Mrs Mack M. HOPSON, Cadiz and one sister, Mrs Edward ALEXANDER, Siloam community. She was later married in the November of 1928 to H.M. PRATHER, who also preceded her in death on February 2nd, 1939.
Mrs Prather united with the Methodist Church early in life and always remained a loyal and devoted member to the faith and until her health failed her, it was a very rare thing that she was not found in her place at every service of the church. Of her, it can be said she was a devoted wife and mother, always thinking of the comforts and happiness of her home and children. She was a woman of native intelligence and was keenly interested and informed regarding all current affairs and was a person of positive convictions with positive views upon all questions.
Funeral services were conducted by the rev. John W. Lewis, pastor of the Cadiz Methodist Church assisted by rev. David l. Vance. Interment followed in the family plot in East End Cemetery of the city. The pall bearers were: Mack M. Hopson, James Sexton, Julian Roberts, Felix Ladd, Van Cooper and Dick Alexander, Eddyville.
