Almost A Hundred At Time of Death End Came On Night of December Six to Mrs. Elizabeth Ramey at 98

OLDEST PERSON IN TRIGG COUNTY AND PERHAPS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY
MRS. ELIZABETH RAMEY, the oldest person in Trigg county and one of the oldest in all Western Kentucky, died on
the night of December 6th at the home of her son, Mr. W.R. Mitchell near Rock Castle.
She was past ninety eight years of age, and death was the result of infirmities incident to advancing years.
Mrs. Ramey was born in Trigg county October 22, 1824 and was a daughter of Wesley Adams, who was in the battle of Tippecanoe.
She was the oldest of a large family of children and is the last to pass to the spirit world. She was united in marriage in 1847 to Riley Mitchell, and eight daughters and one son was the results of that union.
The living children are W.R. Mitchell, Mrs. T.J. Roberts and Mrs. W.L. Stephens, all of Trigg county. She also leave 25 grand children, 67 great grand children and four great great grand children.
She was married a second time to Robertson Ramey in 1872, and he died in December 1876.
Mrs. Ramey professed her faith in Christ at a tender age and united with Mt. Zion Methodist church and held
membership with that congregation until death.
Mrs Ramey was a kind old lady and mothers. Devotion to her family and to neighbors in sorrow and distress was a life
characteristic, and she always found greatest joy in doing things to make others happy. Even in her declining years,
she still rejoiced in the company of the children, the grand children and even the great grand children. Truly a dear
old soul has gone to the world above in her passing away.
Burial took place Friday afternoon at the Wesley Adams burying ground near where she was born and reared, the
place in later years being known as the Lewis Adams place near Adams' Mill, six miles north of Cadiz. Cadiz Record

"Uncle Bob" Ramey Answers Last Call
Infirmities Of Advancing Years Caused Death Of Well Known Citizen
Was Past Eighty Years Of Age And Leaves Many Friends And Relatives
Mr. J. S. Ramey, familiarly known to his hosts of friends as "Bob," died at his home in Bethesda neighborhood last Friday afternoon at 3:30 of infirmities due to old age. He has been in poor health for some time, and his death was not unexpected.
Mrs. Ramey was born in Trigg county May 11, 1844, and was eighty years, five months and six days of age. He had been a Master Mason for over fifty years, being a member of Parkersville lodge of Lamasco.
He was not a member of any church, but professed a hope in Christ a number of years ago.
He is survived by one brother, Sanford Ramey, and one sister, Mrs. Bettie Sanders, both of Trigg county, besides a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ramey was a kind and charitable man a "pal" of all the boys, and to know him was to love him.
Burial took place at Cedar Grove grave yard Saturday afternoon. Funeral service were conducted by the Masons, and the funeral sermon was delivered by the nephew, Rev. Luther Sanders, of Cadiz.
