CADIZ, Ky. -- Clifton Sholar, 99, Cadiz, died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home with the Revs. Todd Gray and Gary Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Flat Lick Cemetery in Christian County. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday.A native of Trigg County, he was born Sept. 9, 1903, the son of the late George Patterson and Sarah Caroline Futrell Sholar. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he was the oldest member. His wife, Lonnie Mae Sholar, died in 1989. A daughter, Imogene Sholar, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, T.P. Sholar, Cadiz, Belmont Sholar, Hopkinsville, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Flat Lick Cemetery No. 1 Fund, In Care Of Geneva Hancock, 6330 Julien Road, Hopkinsville, Ky., 42240.

Splendid Lady Of Delmont Passes Away At The Age of Sixty-One
Mrs. Drucilla C. Sholar, wife of J. E. (Bud) Sholar, died at her home near Delmont last Friday at twelve o'clock. She was a daughter of the late Peyton Thomas, Esq. And one of a family of ten children, of whom now only two survive - Alfred C. Thomas, and Mrs. Albert Hixon, of Calloway county. She was born April 20, 1865. On February 10, 1884, she was married to John E. Sholar. Three children blessed this union,-- Ica, Maud and Edward - who with the husband still survive.
She had been a member of Delmont Baptist church for fifteen years and lived true to the teachings of the Meek and Lowly One until her death. Her life was consecrated to the benefit of those around her and no person ever possessed a more amiable and sweeter disposition, and the community in which she lived has been made better by her having lived in it.
She was buried Saturday at the Sholar grave yard in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. L. Spurlin, assisted by Rev. Keidell Thomas.

Mrs. Henry Sholar Dies In Hopkinsville
Splendid Trigg County Lady Passed Away At The Age Of Seventy Five
Mrs. Helen Sholar, a splendid Trigg county lady and wife of the late Drew Sholar, died last Monday at the Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville, where she had been for some weeks for treatment.
She had long lived in the Maggie section, eight miles south of Cadiz and was a lady held in high esteem and had many friends.She was a Miss Wile? Before marriage and was born in 1849, being seventy five years of age at the time of her death.
The remains were brought to Cadiz and buried Tuesday afternoon at East End Cemetery, short funeral services being held at the grave.
The surviving children are: Mrs. Thomas A. Hamilton, of Hopkinsville; Jimmie Sholar, of Todd county, and Tom D.; Joe and Albert Sholar and Mrs. Garnett Carloss, of Trigg county.
Mrs. Sholar was a Methodist in religion and had for many years been a member of Oakland church.

End Came Recently To Splendid Lady Living In Maggie Section
Mrs. Ollie Sholar, wife of the late Drew Sholar, who died many years ago, died recently at the family home near Maggie, nine miles south of Cadiz. Mrs. Sholar had been in declining health for some time, and complication of troubles caused her death.
She was a Miss Grigsby, before her marriage and Esq. R. J. Grigsby now past ninety one is the only brother who survives of a family of eight children. The names of the surviving sons are Jesse, Hugh , Euel and Drew Sholar.
Mrs. Sholar was a splendid lady with many friends and her death is deeply mourned by the family and friends.
Burial took place at the family grave yard near the home.

CADIZ, Ky. - Services for Rose Ezell Sholar, 41, Bumpus Mills, Tenn., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with the Revs. Gordon Downs and Jimmy Oliver officiating.Burial will be in Harris Cemetery, Stewart County, Tenn. Visitation will begin at 4 this afternoon.
She died at 12:26 a.m. Sunday at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center, Memphis, Tenn., of natural causes.
A native of Trigg County she was born Dec. 15, 1957, the daughter of the late Frank Boyd and Mattie Elizabeth Whitman Ezell. She was a homemaker and a Mary Kay consultant and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband, Rodger Sholar; an infant son, Rodger Andrew Sholar, the home;. six brothers, Billy, Dale, Glenn "Tub," Jesse, Ronnie and Freddie Ezell, all of Cadiz; and two sisters, Judy Sumner, Clarksville,

J. Pink Sholar Dies In Gracey
Well Known Citizen And Native Trigg Countian Passes Away At 75
Had Been in Declining Health For Many Year And Burial In Cadiz Sunday
Mr. J. Pink Sholar, a native of Trigg county and a well known and prominent citizen of Gracey, died last Friday night at his home in that city.
Mr. Sholar had been in poor health for a number of years, being a suffer from asthma and lung trouble. Other complications arose which hastened his death.Mr. Sholar was a native of Trigg county, and was a son of James Sholar, long deceased. He was born on the 22nd day of December, 1849, and would have been seventy five years of age had he lived until last Monday.
For a number of years after reaching young manhood he engaged in teaching, but most of his life had been spent as a farmer, in which he had been successful. For a number of years he owned and operated a farm in Trigg county, near Gracey. When his health began to decline some years ago, he turned the management of the farm over to others and moved to Gracey, where he has since lived.
About forty years ago he was married to Miss Mollie Thomas, and the wife and four children survive him. The children are: Mrs. Guy Nabb, of near Trenton, Todd county; Mrs. Rodman Redd, of near Gracey; Mr. James Sholar, of Hopkinsville, and Mr. Tom Sholar, of Sturgis.
Two sisters and one brother also survive him, these three living in Trigg county, as follows: Mr. J. E. Sholar, of near Maggie; Mrs. J. O. Barnett of near Oakland, and Mrs. J. R. Moore, of the Donaldson section.
Mr. Sholar was a Baptist, and a Mason, a good citizen and an intelligent gentleman, and in his death the community and the surrounding country have lost a valued and most honored citizen.
Funeral services were held at the home in Gracey Sunday afternoon and the remains were brought to Cadiz and buried in east End Cemetery. The pall bearers were among the friends and immediate neighbors as follows: W. C. Durham, W. R. Smith, J. G. Torian, Sam Torian, C. R. Alexander and Henry V. Thomas.
A large number of neighbors and friends accompanied the remains from Gracey and these were met at the cemetery by many others from the town of Cadiz and surrounding county.

Sholar. He was a disabled Army veteran.Survivors include two sons, Derick Sholar,
Indianapolis, Eric Hardin Sholar, Hopkinsville; a
daughter, Brittany Sholar, Indianapolis; three
brothers, Lemon Sholar, Indianapolis, George
Sholar, Louisville, Ralph Sholar, New Orleans,
La.; four sisters, Dorothy S. Hopson, Cadiz, Loretta
S. Howard, Frankfort, Jeanetta S. Amorin and
Beulah S. Wesley, both of Louisville and three
grandchildren.
