BETTY T. WITTYBetty Thompson Witty, 70, Pembroke Road, died at 8:24 a.m. Sunday, April 30, 2000, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maddux Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with the Rev. James O. Hazelrigg officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time for the service.
A native of Hopkinsville, she was born Sept. 28, 1929, the daughter of the late John P. and Lila Peden Thompson. She was a retired secretary for Jennie Stuart Medical Center and was a volunteer for the Christian County Literacy Society and Habitat for Humanity. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she was active in prayer groups and Bible studies.
Survivors include her husband, James L. Witty; a son, John Witty, Chattanooga, Tenn.; two daughters, Anita W. Rivers, Marietta, Ga., Melissa W. Snider, Midland, Texas; a brother, John ‘'Sonny'' Thompson, Hopkinsville and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.

Died Thursday 18 June 1942 at her home on North Main St., Hopkinsville.
Born 25 March 1863, the oldest child of George H. and Elizabeth Cox Boyd.
Married J. B. Witty in 1893 and he died in March 1929.
Member of the Second Baptist Church. A son Hubert R. Witty died in 1920.
Survivors: two sons, B. L. Witty of Akron, Ohio and Ernest B Witty of Hollywood, Calif.; three grandchildren, Misses Betty and Mary Witty of Akron and Hubert Witty of Hollywood; three sisters, Mrs. R. H. Newill of Burlingame, Calif., Misses Ada Boyd and Fannie A. Boyd of Hopkinsville with whom she resided.
Services: Saturday 20 June 1942, burial in Riverside Cem.

Born in Christian Co., son of James and Jane Hardy Witty.
Insulation dealer, member of Second Baptist Church, former trustee and member of the choir. Long active in the Odd Fellows Lodge receiving his 50 year pin three years ago.
He and his wife celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary last December 29.
Survivors: wife, Mildred Pyle Witty; brother, Tom Witty of Memphis.
Services: Friday 11 April 1958, burial in Riverside Cem.

Died Monday 13 March 1961 at Jennie Stuart Hospital.
Born in Christian Co., the last surviving child of James Henry and Amelia White Pyle.
Widow of Joseph Clay Witty, who died 9 April 1958. They were married 29 December 1915. Member of Second Baptist Church since 1915, formerly taught a Sunday School class there for 20 years. At one time was president of the Woman's Missionary Union.
Survivors: two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edgar Pyle of Hopkinsville and Mrs. Ernest Pyle of Christian Co.; a niece, Mrs. Frank Parson of Lake Charles, La.; a nephew, James Pyle of Christian Co.
Services: Wednesday 15 March 1961, burial in Riverside Cem.
