1898 State of KY Letter THESE NOTES ARE TAKEN FROM BITS OF PAPER, LETTERS AND JOURNAL ENTRIES FOUND IN AN OLD CHEST BELONGING TO WILLIAM G. ROBBINS (1840-1919) THEY ARE THE PERSONAL PAPERS OF WILLIAM AND HIS SONS ELISHA, MERLE, WILLIE & ORA LETTER STATE OF KY, REGISTER OF LAND OFFICE, FRANKFORT DATED SEPT 3, 1898 Mr. William Robbins, Relief KY Dear Sir: I return to you your plat and Certificate of Survey. I do this in order for you to have the County Surveyor, Mr. W.L. Barker make the Certificate of survey in the name of Richard Burks, and then have Mr. Burks assign the Plat and Certificate to you. The best place for Mr. Burks to do this is just beneath Surveyor Barker's affidavit attested by D.M. Cox. I dislike very much to cause further delay and to put you to this additional trouble, but in doing this the records in this office will not only be in good shape, but your title, in that respect, will be indisputabel and it may be the means of saving you a suit. I enclose you a clipping showing the law as to assignments. I do this in the absence of Mr. C.O. Reynolds the Register but believe from recent expressions I have heard from him concerning the assignment of Warrants, that if he were here he would pursue the same course, as, the law of 1884 does not allow the assignment of warrants and we can find no repeal of it. Trusting that you will see the reasonableness of my course I remain Very Respectfully C.O. Reynolds, R.L.O. by S.S.
