CALDWELL, ROBERT R.
Robert Randolph Caldwell was born at Buchananan Fork in Wolfe County, Kentucky on June 2, 1951 and passed away Monday, February 6, 2006 in Lake Butler, Florida at the age of 54. He is survived by two daughters, Gwen Caldwell McIntosh and husband George of Jackson and Tina Caldwell Tyra and husband Daniel of Campton ; his mother, Fern Bush Caldwell McCoy, who resides at Wolfe County Health Care Center in Campton ; two brothers, Taylor Caldwell of Prestonsburg and Charles Caldwell of Campton ; six aunts, Bess Phillips and Hazel Linkous, both of Wolfe County Health Care Center in Campton, Betty Mayaab of Campton, Mabel Barker and Dorothy Elam, both of West Liberty ; and Alice Ball of Indiana ; six grandchildren, Lydia McIntosh, Cameron McIntosh, Danielle Tyra, Ethan Tyra, Walker Tyra, and Abigail Tyra. He also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 11, at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel with Bro. G.C. McIntosh officiating. Burial followed in the Bush Family Cemetery at Laurel with with Porter and Son Funeral Directors of Campton in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Campbell, beloved wife of Asa C. Campbell, Sr., and daughter of the late Clifford Sr. and Sarah Lunsford Landsaw, was born November 4, 1919 and departed this life Sunday, November 13, 2005 at her residence in Ezel at the age of 86 years and 9 days. She was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky, was a member of the Church of God, and was a loving mother and housewife. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Lee and David Morton Campbell ; two granddaughters, Valerie Campbell and Vonecia Campbell ; 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Survivors include three sons, Asa C. Campball Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas, Gerald Campbell of Licking, Missouri, and Gary Wade Campbell of Ezel ; one daughter, Ruth Burke of Ezel ; nine grandchildren, Guwyne and Clif Campbell, Michelle Bailey, Shannon Yerian, Chad and David Campbell, Chanda Barker, and Lori and Wade Campbell ; and 8 great-grandchildren. Sje also leaves behind a large number of nieces, nephews, and old friends. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 16 at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Stanley Burnett officiating. Burial followed in Ezel Cemetery at Exel with Porter and Son Funeral Directors of Campton in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were Guwyne Campbell, Clif Campbell, Shannon Yerian, Chad Campbell, David Campbell, and Wade Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were her three granddaughters, Michelle Bailey, Chandra Barker, and Lori Campbell. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

A. O. (Lonza) Cantrell, 101, of Sandlick Road, West
Liberty, died Wednesday, May 10, at Morgan County Appalachian Regional
Hospital, West Liberty, following a brief illness.
Mr. Cantrell was born May 24, 1887, a son of the late Elijah Cantrell
and Margaret Ann Bolin Cantrell. He was a retired farmer and was
preceded in death by his wife, Marvie Legg Cantrell, and five sisters,
Linnie Wright, Polly Cantrell, Lula Gambill, Bora Alice Gambill and
Betty Holbrook. Also four brothers, Carl Cantrell, Earl Cantrell, Shell
Cantrell and Monroe Cantrell.
Survivors are two daughters. Irshla Hill of Sandlick Road, West Liberty
and Leona Blanton of Volga; one son John Cantrell of Fairborn, Ohio;
one step son, Joe Cantrell of Jackson, Ohio; one brother, John Wallace
Cantrell of Sandlick Road, West Liberty; 22 grandchildren, four step
grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Herald
& Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Hall and
Rev. William E. Wright officiating. Burial was in Cantrell Cemetery on
Sandlick Road with Herald & Stewart & Halsey Funeral Home of
West Liberty in charge of arrangements.

CANTRELL, LETTIE C.
Lettie Cox Cantrell was born April 22, 1909 at Lacy Creek in Morgan County, Kentucky. She departed this life on November 21, 2005 at the Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Rosabell Johnson Cox. She was united in marriage to the late Clyde Cantrell on December 24, 1933. To this union were born seven children. Clyde Mason Cantrell preceded her in death. Survivors include six children, Nell and Junior Adkins, Nettie and Gerald Goodpaster, Leona “ Crickett “ Cantrell, Jimmy and Mardi Cantrell, Jerry and Mary Cantrell, Sharon and Donnie Lykins ; seven grandchildren, Keith and Amanda Adkins, Scott Lykins, Kent Lykins and Amanda Duvall, Kim and Darren Sparkman, Elly and John Gilbert, Jeremy Cantrell, and Amy Greenhill Delph ; nine great-grandchildren, Josh Adkins, Kevin Adkins, Dalton Adkins, DeeJay Sparkman, Chloe May Sparkman, Audrey Gilbert, Amelia Caskey, James Tre Duvall, and Justin Delph. She is also survived by two sisters, Lillian Nickell of West Liberty, Kentucky and Maxine Williams of Fairborn, Ohio. Lettie was a devoted wife and loving Mother. She attended the Lacy Creek Christian Church and was a grocery store owner for many years. She belonged to Paulina Chapter No. 360 OES where she served as Worthy Matron and held several other offices. She was a former member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Lettie belonged to the West Liberty Homemaker Club where she served as President for over 30 plus years. Her big project was helping with the Blood Drive by making homemade cookies and juice and serving it to the blood donors. She was one of the original crafters of the Morgan County Sorghum Festival and had a booth each of the 35 years of the festival. Lettie loved to travel and had been in almost all of the 50 states. She loved life and enjoyed every day of her 96 years. Lettie will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 23 at 1 p.m. at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Chapel with Bro. Rick Pelfrey and Bro. David Cook officiating. Burial in the Coffey Cemetery, Old Hwy. 172, West Liberty, Kentucky with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Eastern Star rites were held Tuesday, November 22 at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Active pallbearers were Scott Lykins, Kent Lykins, Keith Adkins, Darren Sparkman, John Gilbert, Jeremy Cantrell, Josh Adkins, Kevin Adkins, and DeeJay Sparkman. Honorary pallbearers were Edwin Benton, Raymond Rowlett, Paris Holbrook, and Sewell Smith.

CANTRELL, MARGARET
Mrs. Margaret Cantrell, 74, of Elamton died
unexpectedly at 5 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in Ohio where she had gone to
visit a daughter and grandchildren. Mrs. Cantrell went Sunday to
Fairborn, Ohio for a visit and became ill Wednesday and was admitted to
Green Memorial Hospital, Xenia, where she died Thursday. She had not
been in good health for some time, suffering from a heart condition.
Born in Morgan County May 15, 1891, she was the daughter of Moedia
Keeton and Rebecca Lester Keeton. She was married to John Wesley
Cantrell, who died in 1944. She was a member of Union Church of
Enterprise Baptists at Dingus.
She is survived by six children, Haskel Cantrell of Dingus, Lewis
Cantrell of Dingus, Virtie Osborne of Elamton, Ettie Farris or
Fairborn, Ohio, and Hollie and John Cantrell, Jr. at home; three
sisters, Ella Stapleton of Van Lear, Elizabeth Montgomery and Mae
Smith, both of Paintsville, and one brother, Lewis Keeton of
Paintsville.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Union Church at Dingus by
Rev. D. W. Beculhimer. Burial in Staver Smith cemetery at White Oak
Branch. Herald and Stewart Funeral Home had charge.

Myrtle Smith Cantrell, 91 , of White Oak Branch, West Liberty, died Monday, October 24, 2005 at Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital in West Liberty. Born July 4, 1914 in Morgan County, Kentucky Myrtle was a daughter of the late John W. Smith and Nora Wright Smith. She was a homemaker and a 60 year member of Martha Enterprise Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Parel Cantrell on December 30, 1975 ; two sons, Gene Estill Cantrell and John Arnett Cantrell ; one daughter-in-law, Lovell Cantrell ; a son-in-law, Arlie Cantrell ; one brother, Simon Smith ; and a great-granddaughter, Crystal Gibbs. Survivors include two daughters, Mondell and Thirel Daniels of West Liberty and Ponzell Cantrell of Piqua, Ohio ; one daughter-in-law, Naomi Cantrell of Grayson ; several half-brothers and sisters ; 12 grandchildren ; 19 great-grandchildren ; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday , October 27 at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Chapel with Bro. Roger Ball, Bro. Cortis Ison and Bro. Paul E. Keeton officiating. Burial followed in the Arnett Cantrell Cemetery, Highway 589, West Liberty with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were family and friends.

CARPENTER, GOEBEL
Goebel Carpenter, 83, of Ezel, died Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the V.A. Hospital in Lexington. Mr. Carpenter was born January 3, 1922 in Greear in Morgan County, Kentucky a son of the late Roll Carpenter and Lola Mae Greear Carpenter. He was a laborer and a U.S. veteran of World War II. Goebel is survived by a cousin, Mary Murphy of Ezel. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 5 at Greear and Cundiff Cemetery at Grassy Creek with Rev. Eugene Haney officiating. Burial followed with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by Morgan County D.A.V. Pallbearers were friends and relatives.

CHURCH, ELMER A.
Elder Elmer A. Church went to be with the Lord in his Heavenly home on Saturday, September 24, 2005. He was born and raised in Buchanan County, Virginia and resided in Abingdon, Virginia since 1980. He retired from N & W Railroad in 1980 after 37 years of service. He was of the Old Regular Baptist faith and was a faithful and devoted servant of God for 70 years of his life. He was a member of the Little Freedom Church in Deskins. During his walk of life with God he served as moderator to many churches and at the time of his death was moderator of the Mountain Liberty Association of Churches. He was preceded in death by his parents, Campbell and Polly Church ; his first wife, Tonnie Church ; infant daughter, Tonnie Marie Church ; two sons, Elmer “ June “ Church Jr. and William L. Church; two sisters, Ola Blackburn and Pearl Church ; and one brother, Robert Church. Elmer is survived by his wife, Opal Mullins Church. Nineteen years ago this happy couple came together. Together they walked side by side---what one wanted, the other wanted. Their special interest was the preservation and enrichment of the Old Time Baptists. He served as assistant moderator of the Union Association from 1954 to 1957. He was elected moderator in 1958 and served for several years. He also served as moderator of the committee on the book “ A History of Regular Baptists “. As stated before, at the time of his death he was the moderator of the Mountain Liberty Association. Left to mourn his loss are five daughters, Mary Conley and husband Roy of Marion, Virginia, Margie Buchanan and husband Harold of Roanoke, Virginia, Polly Church of Abingdon, Virginia, Lillian ( Jackie ) Colley and husband Lee of Cedar Bluff, and Becky Robinson and husband Terry of Castlewood ; one daughter-in-law, Clara Church of Jonesborough, Tennessee ; and 8 grandchildren . He is also survived by six step-children, Carolyn Skidmore, Patricia Swartz, John Mullins, Woodrow Mullins Jr., Odes Mullins, and Wardie Mullins ; and 7 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Kimer J. Church of Abingdon, Virginia ; and four sisters, Ethel Stuart, Louise Goodman, Helen Holbrook, and Volet Stacy ; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to mention. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday, September 27, in the Farris Funeral Home on the grounds of Forest Hills Gardens. Those participating in his funeral included Jackie Church, Mitchell Arnett, Jerry Matney and Benny Dales Jr. Elmer was buried in the Forest Hills Memory Garden by his first wife and two sons. Following is a plaque presented to Elmer on August 5 by Liberty Hope Old Regular Baptist Church at Draffin, Kentucky. Presented to Elder Elmer Church, Old Regular Baptist Church minister. This plaque is proudly presented for your many years of dedication and devotion to God`s church and his people. Thanks for your 70 years to the mountain people.

CLEVENGER, HELEN L.
Helen L. Clevenger, 82, of Fairborn, Ohio, died Wednesday, November 16,2005 in the Greene Memorial Hospital, Xenia, Ohio. She was born January 1,1923 at Pomp in Morgan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John Wade and Bessie Lou Haney Davis. Helen was retired from the Heritage Nursing Home in Fairborn where she was employed as a nurses aide and attended the Church of God in Fairborn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Moreland and Jewel Davis. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Pamela Clevinger of Fairborn, Ohio, and Klydia Wited and husband Roy of Deer Lodge, Tennessee ; a son, Michael Clevinger and wife Mary of Dayton,Ohio ; four sisters, Rella Whitt of Fairborn,Ohio, Betty Adams and husband Jesse of Fairborn,Ohio, Charlene Watern and husband Don of Kettering,Ohio, and Jean Patrick of West Liberty ; a brother, Drexel Davis and wife Reva of Fairborn,Ohio ; four grandsons, Michael Clevinger of Xenia,Ohio, Scott Clevinger and wife Kenyon of Fairborn, Ohio , Tim Whited and wife Holly of Florida ; Jeff Whited of Tennessee ; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Corrina, Cassidy, and Nicole Clevinger, Abigail Whited ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 21 at Belton-Stroup Funeral Home in Fairborn,Ohio with Rev. Eugene Haney and Rev. Harold Davis officiating. Noel Coffee, 76, of Piqua, Ohio, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 , at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born July 2, 1929 in Morgan County, Kentucky a son of the late William and Hattie Hopkins Coffee. He married Bertie Gambill on November 28, 1964 in Kentucky. Noel is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Bill DeMarcus of Sidney,Ohio and Debbie and Greg Boyd of Piqua, Ohio ; three step-daughters, Winnie Mallory of Troy, Ohio, Helen and Tim Lucas of Piqua, Ohio and Judy Wheeler of Salyersville ; one brother, Zora Coffee of West Liberty ; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers, one step-son Winford Cantrell, and two step-grandsons, Charley Cantrell and Scott Allen Montgomery. Noel worked for Hobart Corporation in Troy, Ohio for 30 years and retired in 1992. He belonged to the Quarter Century Club. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26 at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Krummey officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery. COLDIRON, BLANCHE
Blanche Coldiron, 83, of Crittenden, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Woodcrest Manor at Elsmere. Mrs. Coldiron was a homemaker, a member of the Sherman Church of Christ, a member of the Kentucky Country Music Hall of Fame, and a self-taught Master Musician. She was awarded the Appalachian Treasurer Award in June 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl in 1988 ; a daughter, Carolyn, 1996 ; two brothers, Raymond and Oasa Hurt ; and a sister, Lillian Cames. Survivors include a son, James “ Jim “ Coldiron and a daughter, Sandra Kay “ Sandy “ Good, both of Crittenden ; a sister, Irene Brewer of Stanton ; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 23 at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home with burial following in the Hill Crest Cemetery at Dry Ridge. Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home of Dry Ridge was in charge of arrangements. Memorials were suggested to donor`s choice.

Anthony Dwight Collins,Sr., 53, of Dayton, Ohio passed away Monday, March 20, 2006 at his home. Anthony was born December 11, 1952. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 746, Northridge, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Glen Collins. Survivors include his mother, Novella Justine Collins ; his wife of 35 years, Elaine Collins ; children, Stacy ( Steve ) Neff, Brenda ( Phillip ) Norrod, and Anthony Collins, Jr. ; his fiancé` , April Tyree ; one brother, Ecklin ( Carolyn ) Collins ; granddaughters, Chelsea Neff, Kaley Neff, Kyley Neff, Stevi Neff, and Payden Collins ; a step-grandson , Matthew Norrod ; and several nieces and nephews. Anthony was loved very much and is sadly missed by family and friends. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 23 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, with Rev. Paul Watkins officiating. Interment followed in Dayton National Cemetery.

Kelly Collins, 75, of Pikeville, died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville following an extended illness. He was born July 21,1930 in Morgan County, Kentucky a son of the late Morton Collins and Bessie Elam Collins. Kelly was a machine operator for Colley Block Co., and member of Caney Freewill Baptist Church at Pikeville where he served as a church deacon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Maggie Faye Collins. He later married Josephine Collins who also preceded him in death. One sister, Elizabeth Engdahl, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Redah Johnson Collins ; two daughters, Gwen and Rollie Tackett of Virgie, and Melody and Clark Akers of Robinson Creek ; two sons, Dwight and Paula Collins of Ashland, and Hal and Bonnie Collins of Morehead ; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren ; one brother, Stanley and Cathy Collins of West Liberty ; four sisters, Blanche Black of Blairs Mills, Willodean Perry of Morehead, Judy and Buster Davis of Savannah, Georgia, and Amy Jo and John Morrison of Ashland. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 23, at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Chapel with Bro. Greg Newsome and Bro. Eric Fleming officiating. Burial followed in the Perry Cemetery at Blairs Mills with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were friends and family.

Eddie Conley, 67, formerly of Rockhouse, died Friday, March 26, 2006 at Cornerstone in Huntington, West Virginia. Born July 17, 1938 at Tarklin, Kentucky. Eddie was a son of the late Walter F. and Rachel Ann Williams Conley. He was a former employee of Frederick and May Sawmill. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Effie Conley Elam, Mary Conley, and his twin sister, Tressie Marie Conley ; one brother, Russell Conley ; a special cousin, James Conley. Survivors include one brother, Marvin R. Conley and wife Linda of Pixie, California ; one sister, Lora “ Ida “ Morgan and husband Cecil of Englewood, Ohio ; a special cousin, Essie Conley ; nieces, nephews, and additional cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30 at Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jimmy Adkins and Rev. Jimmy Conley officiating. Burial will follow in the Conley Cemetery on Lacy Creek with Potter Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Diana Jo Easterling Cook, 57, of Fernadina Beach, Florida, formerly
of Blairs Mill,
Died of an extended illness, Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 4:50 p.m. at
Northeast Florida Community Hospice. She was born in Blairs Mill,
Kentucky, April 26, 1948 to Gerald Emerson Easterling and Mattie Jewell
Elam Easterling. Diana was preceded in death by both parents and one
brother, Rodney Lynn Easterling. She was a housewife, and member of
Spring Hill Baptist Church in Fernadina, Florida. Surviving are her
husband, Joe Cook of Fernadina, Florida ; two sons, David Jennings and
Calvin Brothers of Jacksonville, Florida ; one daughter, Wilma Jennings
of Vancouver, Washington. Also surviving are seven brothers, Tommy
Easterling of Salt Lick, Steve Easterling of Olive Hill, Stanley
Easterling, Jerry Easterling, Elbert Easterling, Jeff Easterling, and
Jack Easterling , all of West Liberty ; four sisters, Judy Cadell of
Midland, Ohio, Valerie Cotton of Grayson, Janice Esterling and Pam
Williams, both of West Liberty. A memorial service was conducted
Saturday, march 18 at 2 p.m. at the Spring Hill Baptist Church in
Fernadina, Florida. Final resting place will be the Blair Cemetery,
Blairs Mill, Kentucky with graveside services conducted.

Faustino Cordeiro, 91, of Highway 437, West Liberty, died Tuesday, December 6,2005 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born August 15, 1914 in Azores, Portugal, Faustino was a son of the late Manuel De Cunha Cordeiro and Maria De Livaramento. He was a retired machinist, a member of Our Lady of the Assumption in Turlock, California, and a Portugal Army veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Cordeiro. Survivors include his wife, Filomenta Pereria Cordeiro ; three sons, Manuel Cordeiro and wife Manuela of Castro Valley, California, Candido Cordeiro and wife Geraldine of Hilmar, California, and Jose Cordeiro and wife Patty of West Liberty ; one sister, Livaramento Cunha and two brothers, Vergino Cordeiro and Hermino Cordiero, all of Azores, Portugal ; four grandchildren, Brian Cordeiro, Cheryl Thompson, Jennifer Cordiero, and Michael Cordeiro ; a great-grandchild, Dylan Cordeiro ; three step-grandchildren , Michael Woodrow Keeton, Alonzo Keeton, and Austin Keeton ; two step-great-grandchildren, Cassandra Keeton and Harrison Walker Keeton. Darryl Cottle, 59, of Lexington, died Monday, December 19,2005 at his residence. Born Sunday, September 29, 1946 at Paintsville, Kentucky Darryl was a son of Daniel G. and Mexie Smith Cottle of Lexington. He was employed in the U.K. Agriculture Department as a computer programmer. Darryl was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, and was of the Morman faith. In addition to his parentshe is survived by two brothers, Wayne and Debbie Cottle and Daniel and Wilma Cottle and one sister, Joan and Bryan Osburn all of Lexington ; 9 nieces and nephews ; six great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 22 at Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Montgomery officiating. Burial followed in the Cecil Cemetery at Wellington with Potter Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Chad Cottle, Justin Cottle, Tom Evans, Scott Evans, Chris Pavona, and Tim Disney.

Dorothy Blevins Cottle, 77 , of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, died Thursday, October 20, 2005 at Grand Strand Helath Care Center, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Born Monday, February 20, 1928 at relief, Kentucky , Dorothy was the daughter of the late Sanford and Reva Gambill Blevins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Cottle Jr. in 1993. Survivors include a loving daughter, Pattie and son-in-law, George Owens of Murrlls Inlet, South Carolina ; two nieces, Doris Hill of Fairborn, Ohio and Arlene Ison of Moon: dearest aunt, Eulah Leach of Fairborn, Ohio ; 4 step-grandchildren ; and 4 step great-grandchildren ; numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews ; a brother-in-law ; 4 sisters-in-law and many loving, dear cousins. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, October 24, at Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Hamilton officiating. Burial followed in the Peyton-Perry Cemetery at DeHart with Potter Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were family and friends.

Buel Cox, 80, of Little Caney Branch, West Liberty, died Sunday, December 25, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born September 4, 1925 in Morgan County, Kentucky a son of the late John David Cox and Kate Fannin Cox. He was a retired coal miner. Buel accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour and attended the Sulphue Springs Enterprise Baptist Church at Crockett, Kentucky. He was a member of Elkfork Lodge # 755 F&AM. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Goldie Cox ; his two sons, Plasie ( Pete ) Cox and Ollie Garland Cox ; also 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Sharon K. Cox of Little Caney ; a step-son, Clyde and Wilma Jo Kelly of Little Caney ; five grandchildren, Richard and Deanna Cox, David Kelly, David and Jennifer Cox, Eric and Christy Cox, and Amy and Neal Clark ; one sister, Reva and Bob Ellis of Huntington,West Virginia ; one brother, Ora Cox of Illinois ; one sister-in-law, Ola Blanton of Columbus,Ohio ; three half-sisters, Betty Gambill and Willa Faye McGuire , both of Waverly,Ohio and Margie Keeton of West Liberty ; 6 great-grandchildren, Kayla Kelly, Joshua and Timber Cox, Morgan Cox, Aidien Cox, and Isaiah Cox ; three step-grandchildren, Kyle, Dylan and Victoria Bjorkland ; several nieces and nephews ; and his sidekick, Sport. Funeral services conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 29 at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Chapel with Elder Ellis Hamilton and Bro. George Oney officiating. Burial in the Paint Valley Memorial Gardens at Crockett with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Masonic rites conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel by Elkfork Lodge # 755 F&AM. Visitation after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Richard Kelly, Richard Cox, Eric Cox, David Cox, Neal Clark, and Thurman Yerian.

Goldie Mae Skaggs Cox was born January 8, 1922 at Blaine, Kentucky to Pleas B. and Gracie Ison Skaggs. She departed this life on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 3 a.m. after a brief illness. On April 12, 1942 she married Clyde Kelly who preceded her in death along with her parents. Also precededing her in death were two sons, Plasie ( Pete ) Cox and Ollie Garland Cox ; one sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Garland Hamilton ; a brother-in-law, Ollie Blanton. She accepted the Lord as her saviour at an early age and was a member of the New Salem Church of Moon, Kentucky. During her lifetime she worked as a rural route mail carrier for 8 years. She rode a horse and delivered mail between Crockett and Isonville, Kentucky. She worked as a substitute cook at Crockett School and was a full time wife, mother and grandmother. On October 13, 1945 ahe married Buel Cox who survives her along with one son, Clyde Kelly and wife, Jo ; and one daughter-in-law, Sharon Cox , all of Little Caney ; one sister, Ola Blanton of Columbus, Ohio and one brother, Dennie Skaggs of Menifee County, Kentucky. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Rich and Deana Cox of Fairborn, Ohio, Rick Kelly of Little Caney, David and Jennifer Cox of Flemingsburg, Eric and Christy Cox of Connecticut, Amy and Neal Clark of Little Caney. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Kayla Kelly, Josh Cox, Timber Cox, Morgan Cox, and Isiah Cox ; three step great-grandchildren, Kyle, Dylan and Victoria Bjorkland. A special niece, Bernice Blanton Kahler and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22 at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Chapel with Rev. Dallas Barker and Bro. George Oney officiating. Burial in the Paint Valley Memorial Gardens, Crockett, Kentucky with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements.
