LACY, WILLIAM E.
William Earl Lacy, Sr., 85, died at Georgetown Healthcare Thursday, January 12,2006. He was born in Wolfe County, Kentucky, March 8,1920 , a son of the late Andrew Courtney and Anna Pearl Clark Lacy. William was a retired farmer and member of the First Christian Church in Georgetown and was a former member of Hazel Green Christian Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 507, a member of Farm Bureau, and served on the Board of Directors for Southern States and National Farmers Organization, and was a member of the Square Dance Club and helped start several other clubs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Immel Lacy. Survivors include two sons, John Lacy and wife Rosemary of Georgetown and William Earl Lacy Jr. and wife Patricia of Ocala, Florida ; one daughter, Katherine and husband Rev. Fred Nippert of Edwardsport,Indiana ; five grandchildren, Preston Lacy, Robert Lacy and wife Valarie, Karen Nippert, Tim Nippert and wife Kerry, and Susan Moller and husband Rene` ; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14 at Tucker, Yocum, and Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Nippert officiating. Additional services were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hazel Green Christian Church. Burial followed in Hazel Green Cemetery at Hazel Green with Porter and Son Funeral Directors of Campton in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were suggested to First Christian Church.

LANDRUM, CHARLES E.
Charles Earnest Landrum, 80, of Frenchburg, died Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Edgewood Estate Nursing Home in Frenchburg. Born September 19, 1925 in Wolfe County, Kentucky . Earnest was a son of the late Wick Landrum and Lou Ellen Sweeney Landrum. He was a retired mechanic and a veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Spencer Landrum ; 1 brother and 4 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Verna Lawson Landrum of Denniston ; one daughter, Patricia Lindon ; a step-daughter, Kimberly Williamson of Frenchburg ; one grandson, Charles Andrew Lindon ; three great-grandchildren, Shaina Lindon, Kailyn Lindon, and Madison Lindon ; one step-grandson, Trevor Williamson ; one step-granddaughter, Tiffany Johnson of Frenchburg ; one brother, Field Landrum of Hazel Green. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 20 at Menifee Home For Funerals with Rev. Alan Ratliff officiating. Burial followed in the Landrum Cemetery at Denniston with Menifee Home For Funerals of Frenchburg in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted at the graveside by Morgan County DAV. Pallbearers were friends and relatives.

James Clayton Lawson, 51, of Tarr Ridge Road, Frenchburg, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Mary Chiles Hospital in Mt. Sterling following an extended illness. Mr. Lawson was born January 4, 1954 in Menifee County, Kentucky a son of the late Clayton Reece Lawson and Carma Smallwood Lawson. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Smith. Survivors include four sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Larry Smith, Ruby and Ronnie Sorrell, and Anita and Gary McCoy, all of Frenchburg, and Vivian and Earl Ray McCoy of Wellington ; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry Wayne and Sharon Lawson of Frenchburg ; a special niece, Diana Byrd of Frenchburg ; two special friends, Laurys Smith of Frenchburg and Paul Miller of Ocala, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7 at Menifee Home for Funerals with Rev.David Woodward officiating. Burial followed in the Smith Cemetery, Tarr Ridge Road, Frenchburg with Menifee Home for Funerals of Frenchburg in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Marie Lewis, of Buskirk, ( West Liberty ) , died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the residence of a daughter. She was born Friday, January 25, 1924 in Floyd County, Kentucky a daughter of the late Alfred and Emma Caldwell Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband , Bascon Lewis, March 18, 1968 ; a son, William Reo Lewis ; grandson, Roger Lee Frisby ; special son-in-law, Kenneth Monroe ; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include eight children, Albert Lewis of Florida, Zella Lewis Monroe of Lawrenceburg, Larry Lewis and wife Nancy Kay of Mize, Charles Lewis and wife Nancy Ann of West Liberty, Joe Lewis and wife Charlotte of Malone, Patricia Ratliff and husband Bobby of Buskirk, Leona Miller and husband J.C., and Alice Robinson and husband Mike, all of Wolfe County ; 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Potter Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jimmy Adkins and Bro. Jim Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Lewis Family Cemetery at Banner in Floyd County, Kentucky with Potter Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. One brother, Ronnie Lindon, preceded her in death. A memorial service was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10 at Grace Baptist Church at Malone with Bro. Chuck Evans and Bro. Mike Lindon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions were suggested to the American Cancer Society.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include three children, Clyde Litteral and Ollie Litteral, both of West Liberty and Margaret Moore of Campton; 6 grandchildren ; 1 brother, Harold Keeton ; two sisters, Evalene Keeton and Lorene Keeton. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 7 at the Walter Litteral Family Cemetery at West Liberty with Rev. Joe Jenkins officiating. Burial followed with Potter Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were family and friends.

LONG, ALEENE F.
Aleene Fannin Long, 88, of West Liberty, died Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born on June 1, 1917, the daughter of George Ison Fannin and Stella Dennis Fannin at White`s Branch, Morgan County, Kentucky. She moved to West Liberty at an early age and graduated from high school there. She later attended Bowling Green Business College. On February 22, 1936 , she was united in marriage to L. Clifford Long who preceded her in death along with one daughter, Mary Sue Long, and her brother, Herbert Fannin. Aleene worked as a Deputy County Clerk for her parents and with her husband was co-owner of Long`s Restaurant . Later when her husband completed optometric school and established hus own practice she worked as his office manager. Survivors include her sons, George Everett Long, retired mathematics professor of Miami, Florida and Samuel Clifford Long, Circuit Court Judge of West Liberty ; a nephew, Farrell Fannin of Springfield, Missouri ; a cousin who was like a sister to her, Kathryn Fannin Faw of Lexington, Kentucky and other cousins and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, November 18 in the chapel at Potter Funeral Home with Elder Jimmy Adkins officiating. Burial followed in the Ezel Cemetery at Ezel with Potter Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Charles Cecil, Gary Cox, Tom Faw, Shane Holliday, Edward Keeton, Bill Frank Lacy, Bill Ratliff, Robert Schrimer, Asa Vest, and George Weddington.

Sally Jo Long, 63, of Pierceton, Indiana, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006 at her residence. She was born November 27, 1942 in Kosciusko County, to Joseph and Juanita Newell Widman. On November 30, 1963 in Pierceton she married Leon Long , who survives. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Layne ( Kathy ) Evans and Mrs. Dana ( Julie ) Hewitt, both of Pierceton, Indiana ; a son, Christopher ( and wife, Molly ) Long of Pierceton, Indiana ; two sisters, Shirley Long of Columbus City, Indiana and Mrs. Gary ( Patsy ) Plants of Sebring, Florida : a brother, Dwights ( and wife, Bert ) Widman of Warsaw, Indiana ; five grandchildren, Michael and Nolan Evans, Zachary and Sarah Hewitt, and Samuel Long , all of Pierceton, Indiana ; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Tom ( Patty ) Pulliman of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Mrs. Herman ( Nellie ) Conley of Tucson, Arizona ; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton, with Father Bruce Piechocki officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. ( Sally was a daughter-in-law of Bob and Dessel Bach Long. Dessel is a sister of Hazel Craft ).

Ethel Pratt Loveless, 93, of Denniston, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Edgewood Estates Nursing Home in Frenchburg. Mrs. Loveless was born November 30, 1912 in Breathitt County, Kentucky a daughter of the late William Pratt and Lula Brown Pratt. She was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Allen Loveless ; two step-daughters, Cordia Pollard and Carma Richie ; two brothers, Courtney Brown and Floyd Brown ; and two sisters, Goldie Loveless and Geneva McQuinn. Survivors include two daughters, June Wells of Denniston and Diana Beck of Palm Beach, Florida ; one step-daughter, Maye Tate of Dayton,Ohio ; one son, Jack Loveless of Edgewater, Florida ; several grandchildren , several great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 31 at Menifee Home For Funerals with Rev. Terry Wells and Rev. Keith McGuire officiating. Burial followed in the Powers Cemetery at denniston with Menifee Home For Funerals of Frenchburg in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Allen Wells, Justin Wells, Elijah Wells, David Loveless, John Loveless, and Kelly Loveless.

Harold John Luke, son of the late Walker and Callie Baker Luke, was born in Wolfe County, Kentucky on December 13, 1936 and departed this life Tuesday, Feruary 7, 2006 at the age of 69 years, 1 month, and 6 days. A native of Wolfe County, he was a member of Pekin Community Church, and was retired from Luke Heating and Air Conditioning. Survivors include two sons, John Luke and wife Robin of Campton and Jimmy Luke and wife Debbie of Hazel Green ; one daughter, Diane Sweeney and husband Tom of Campton ; three brothers, Ed Luke of Campton, Bill Luke of Central City, and Danny Luke of Hopkinsville ; five sisters, Lorene Luke and Lou Notes , both of Chicago, Illinois, Faye King of Bowling Green, Jean Dukes and Dorothy Medford, both of Central City ; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. , Saturday, February 11 at Porter and Son Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Sammy VanCleve and Rev. Charles Glover officiating. Burial was in the Luke Family Cemetery on Harold Luke Road with Porter and Son Funeral Directors of Campton in charge of arrangements.

LYKINS, OLLIE PARK
Ollie Park Lykins, 93, of Highway 1000, White Oak, Kentucky , departed from this life on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 6:15 a.m. at West Liberty Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Lykins was born September 4, 1912 in Magoffin County, Kentucky, a son of the late Estill and Kate Whitt Lykins. He was a retired farmer. On January 10, 1933 he was united in marriage to Ruby V. Oney. After almost 61 years of marriage, she departed from this life on November 20, 1993 at the age of 80. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Lee Lykins ; three grandchildren , Jackie Brent Lykins, Jodi Elaine Lykins, and Craig Neil Lykins ; five brothers, Emzie Lykins, Kash Lykins, Chris Lykins, Cordis Lykins, and Arna Lykins ; three sisters, Lutie Lykins, Pearl Oney, and Alma Oney. He is the last of the departed siblings. Survivors are three daughters, Jewell Deane Allen of Warren, Ohio, Phyliss Louise Imrich of Burke, Virginia, and Sharon Elaine Basso of Cortland, Ohio ; four sons, Edwin Gene Lykins, Jackie Emerson Lykins, and Hershel B. Lykins, all of White Oak, and Bobby Joe Lykins of Warren, Ohio ; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Park was an amazing person and will be sadly missed by his relatives and friends and all others who knew him. He always had a smile and a kind word for family, friends, and strangers alike. He loved life and his fight was still strong until the end. Right up until almost his passing, he was uttering those words we very much loved to hear , “ I couldn`t be doing any better “, and in his final days, “ So far, so good “. The funeral service was conducted on Thursday, February 16 at 11 a.m. at Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Pelfrey officiating. Burial followed in the Lykins Family Cemetery at White Oak, Kentucky with Herald and Stewart and Halsey Funeral Home of West Liberty in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were mostly family , but also included a couple of dear friends.
