Asa C. Elam, 61, retired harness and saddle maker, died on Sunday night,
March 27 at his home at Mt. Sterling after an illness of several
months. A native of Morgan county, he was a son of the late Oliver and
Ellen Howerton Elam.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Mann Elam; four daughters: Mrs.
Lester Nelson aof Fairfax, Minn.; Mrs. William Clay Burns of Mt.
Sterling; Mrs. Robert Geary of Winchester; and Miss Florence Elam of
cincinnati; one son, Asa C. Elam, Jr. of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Mrs.
C. T. Miller of Louisville; two brothers: Granville Elam, Mt. Sterling,
and James Jasper Elam of Dayton, Oh., two grandchildren, and an aunt,
Mrs. Willie A. Elam of Index.
Funeral services were held at the residence at 3:30 o’clock Wednesday
afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Oren D. Thrasher. Burial was in
Machpelah cemetery.
