Age 63 of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away Monday, April 15,2002. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 18,1939 to Willard A. and Alta (Back) Collinsworth. He graduated from Ezel High School in Ezel,Kentucky in 1957 and was also an Army Veteran. Mr. Collinsworth held a Bachelor`s Degree in Law Enforcement Administration from the University of Dayton; a Master`s Degree in Criminal Justice Education from Eastern Kentucky University; and a Doctorate in Sociology from Ohio State University. In addition he has recieved several certificates for Advanced Training in Law Enforcement from the F.B.I. the National Institute of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice and the International Management Association
for training in Tele-Processing. He served 5 years as an officer for the Dayton Police Department; also served as Director of the Law Enforcement Program at Virginia Western community College, and as Director of Security and Communication at the Roanoke Valley Psychiatric Center in Virginia. He served as Chief of the Advanced Training Division of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council Academy. Prior to being named Chief he was the Supervisor of Administrative Programs at the Academy. He was appointed Director of Security at Wright State university in Dayton,Ohio. While there, he was responsible for the developement,administration, and control of all security,law enforcement and traffic control functions. He was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the training Committees of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and the Buckeye State Sherriff`s Association. He was preceded in death by his mother Alta Collinsworth in 1994.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Collinsworth; 4 daughters, Kimberley (mike) Liebcap of Kettering,Ohio,Kristina collinsworth and Shannon Clark, both of Dayton,Ohio,Stacey (Bobby) Griffin of Franklin,Kentucky; his son,Billy Clark of Englewood, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Dylan, Blaine, Robert, Sarah, Jessica and Jordan; his loving 93 year old
father and step-mother, Willard and Burl Collinsworth of Wellington,Kentucky; 2 sisters, Kay (Ernest) Watson of Frenchburg,Kentucky,Judy (Carl) Tolson of Middletown,OH; brothers-in-law, Terry Rupe of Frenchburg,KY; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; cousin and life-long friend, Jim Back; special friends, Jerry Rupe( Brother-in-law), Harold Bailey, Terry Prugh, Steve Homan, Chuck Lewis, John Martin, Arnold Smith, Gary and Danny Bailey.
Friends may call 6-9 PM, Thursday at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd; Germantown, Ohio where the Funeral service will be held 2 PM Friday with Rev. Greg G. Banks and Rev. Clay Colwell officiating. Burial Hillgrove Cemetery.
