OBITUARY OF:


JESSE BROWNING FUGATE


Jesse Browning Fugate was born April 10, 1871 at Woodsbend in Morgan County.
He passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 1960 at Denniston, in Menifee County,
where he had lived the past 20 years at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Virgil Little. He was 89 years, 8 months and 1 day old,
and had been in failing health for a few years. His wife, Elizabeth
Fugate, preceded him in death 14 years ago, and he is survived by their
four daughters, Mrs. Clyde Carpenter of Camden, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Henry of
Frenchburg, Mrs. J. B. May of Woodsbend, and Mrs. Mildred Little of Denniston.
Survivors also include 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was converted and was a member of the Church of God since early
manhood. Rev. Grover Craft and Rev. Harrison Ratliff of Frenchburg and
Mariba, conducted funeral services Wednesday at the Botts Church in
Menifee County with the Bethel Choir in charge of the song service. The
pall bearers were Woodford May, Joe Terrel, Maxwell Henry, Cummings
Fugate, Donnie Little and Maxwell Gunnell.
The Mitchel Funeral Home of Mt. Sterling was in charge of interment at
the Mize Cemetery.

Jesse was the son of Nathan Ellington Fugate and Mary Jane Browning. His
wife, Elizabeth Mariah Fugate, was the daughter of Zachariah Taylor
Fugate and Mary Catherine Gibson. They were second cousins.
