Mr. Hobert
Branscum, age 87, husband of Virginia Bullen Branscum, of Brodhead, Ky.
graduated this life on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital
in Lexington, Ky.
He was born
on May 5, 1917 in Delta Kentucky, a son of the late Columbus and Sula
Jane New Branscum. He had been an educator holding many positions,
including Teacher and Principal; KYCH Degree, Who's Who in KY, Community
Leaders of America; outstanding personality of the South. He was a
member of the Brodhead Baptist Church and of the Masonic Lodge # 431 in
Monticello, Ky; He served his country in the Armed Forces during WWII,
was a purple heart receipent.
Those left to
mourn his passing include his wife, Virginia Branscum of Brodhead, Ky;
two children-Theresa Karen Garrett and husband David of Lawrenceburg,
Ky. and Ginny Paulette Volkman and husband Thomas Scott of Lumberton,
NC; two grandchildren- Andrew & Lauren Volkman; two sisters-Mrs. Ova
Dick of Amherst, OH and Mrs. Vena Martin of Science Hill, Ky.; As well
as a host of friends and neighbors.
Besides his
parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-Thurston, Arvel, Elbert,
and Ray; sisters-Opal Denny and Flonnie Branscum.
Visitation
for Mr. Hobert Branscum will be Saturday, July 24, 2004 from 8A-10A at
the Brodhead Baptist Church . Funeral services will be conducted
Saturday, 10AM at the Brodhead Baptist Church with Bro. Luther Allen
officiating; burial will follow Monday, July 26, 2004 at Camp Nelson
National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Ky.
