Bessie Bullock

 
MOUNT VERNON - Bessie Bullock, 83, of Mount Vernon, mother of a Perryville woman, died Wednesday at her home. Born Oct. 16, 1912, in Rockcastle County, she was a daughter of the late Giles and Grace Owens Shell. She was the widow of Taft Bullock. She was a homemaker and belonged to Burnett Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Giles and Michael Bullock, and a daughter, Louise Bullock. Survivors include five daughters, Jean Pruitt of Perryville, Carol Sowder and Martha Whitson, both of Somerset, Gail Malott of Walton and Valeria Reynolds of Cincinnati; one son, Mitchell Bullock of Mount Vernon; a brother, G. B. Shell of Lancaster; three sisters, Flora Nicely of Berkeley, Calif., and Verla Weaver and Geneva Smith, both of Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Burnett Chapel United Methodist Church by Larry Nichols. Burial will be in McKinney Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael, Giles and Jack Bullock, Bill Pruitt, Charles Reynolds, Mark Whitson and Barry Malott. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Whitson, Andy Bullock, Wesley Pruitt, Rusty Newcomb, Mitchell Irrizarry, Melony Tarrant and Jenny Reynolds. Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at Dowell and Martin Funeral Home.
