Mary Gertrude Carlson
Mary Gertrude Chasteen Carlson, 86, of Ludington, Michigan, died Saturday, October 25, 2003. She was born in 1917 at Disputanta, the daughter of Sherman and Nancy Gatliff Chasteen. Her father was a school teacher and state representative and Mrs. Chasteen was postmistress at Disputanta and later at Bromo. Mary Gertrude worked for S. S. Kresge Co. and J. C. Penny's.
Survivors are one son, Carl E. Carlson of Spring Lake, Michigan; four grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Chasteen of Conway, S. C. and one sister, Ruby Reeser of Victorville, CA. Also, her special friend, Ralph Meisenheimer.
Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Carlson in 1975; her parents and six brothers and sisters; Jessie Norton, Edith Branscome, Ollie Norton, John Chasteen, Edward Chasteen and Kenneth Chasteen.
Services for Mrs. Carlson were conducted Wednesday, October 29 at the Dorrell Funeral Home in Ludington, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Berea College, Berea, Ky. |
