Mrs. Louise Carter, 77 of Mt. Vernon died Saturday March 13, 2004 at
the Rockcastle Hospital. She was born on September 5, 1926 in Breckinridge,
Oklahoma the daughter of the late George and Lela Timms Shields. She enjoyed
gardening and her grandchildren, had operated an Antique shop, Beauty shop, Ceramic
business, was former Rockcastle County Tax Commissioner, was a bookkeeper, and a member of the
First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school many years.
Survivors are: Two sons; Jerry Warren (Gwen) Carter and Larry Dale
(Linda) Carter. One daughter; Mrs. Claretta (Tommy) Hodges all of Mt. Vernon.
One brother; Jimmy Lee Nix of Euless, Texas. Two sisters; Phyllis Higgins of Ponca
City, OK. and Ann Robertson of Rockledge, FL. Nine grandchildren and eleven great
grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband; Clarence Carter, by
three brothers; Cecil, Jess W. and Jess D. Nix, by one sister; Mary Ellen Robertson,
and by one granddaughter; Ashlee Carter.
