Bernice Cummins, age 74, of Brodhead Rd., Crab Orchard, Ky. wife of Money Ed Cummins, passed away, Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at her residence.
She was born on January 12, 1930 in Rockcastle County, a daughter of the late Virgil & Molly Allen McNew. She was a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church; a retired desk clerk at Holiday Motel in Berea; and a homemaker, was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was former Rockcastle Republican Chairperson and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Her many interests includes traveling and her rock garden.
Those left to mourn her passing include husband, Money Ed Cummins of Brodhead Rd., Crab Orchard, Ky; her children- Sylvia H. Waddle and husband Terry of Shepherdsville, Ky. and Lewis Dale Holcomb and wife Nancy of Elizabethton, Tenn.; her grandchildren- Kevin Waddle and wife Rachel of Louisville, Ky., Nychole Harrison of Va. Beach, Va., Yanetta Kappes and husband Henry of Va. Beach, VA. and Zachary Holcomb of Elizabethton, Tenn.; great grandchildren-Jonathan Kappio, Jr. and Dillon & Logan Kappes all of Va. Beach, VA and Macy Waddle of Louisville, Ky. Brothers-Virgil McNew, Jr., Vernon McNew and Clyde McNew. Sisters- Myrtle Holcomb, Doris Myers, and Edna Clark.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Lewis C. Holcomb, and a sister Ursula Baker.
