James Walter French, 90, of Madisonville, died Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at his home.
He was born May 16, 1913 in Mt. Vernon to George Washington and Lola Doan French. He was a member of Greater Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker for French Construction and a World War II Army veteran, having served with the 94th Calvary. He served in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe and received the AME Theater Ribbon and four Bronze Stars.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Glenna Faye Ramsey French; one daughter, Janice Faye Smith of Madisonville; two sons, Jackie Ray French of Madisonville and Joe French of Hanson; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, F. L. French in 1946, four sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 13th at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with Rev. Ronald Hendricks and Bro. Danny Strader officiating. Burial followed in the Hanson Cemetery in Hanson. |
