Mr. Melvin
Gibbons, age 83 of Rt. 2 Livingston, died Sunday, June 27 at the
Rockcastle Hospital. He was born in Harlan County on Apr. 13, 1921 the
son of Bill and Elizabeth Hensley Gibbons. He was a retired constuction
worker and farmer, was a member of the Pine Hill Holiness Church, and
was an Army veteran of World War II.
He is
survived by his wife, Mossie Wynn Gibbons; two sons, Oscar Gibbons
(Loretta) and Clyde Gibbons (Peggy), both of Livingston; five daughters,
Christine Carroll and Phyllis Jean Hensley (Claude), both of Red Hill,
Shirley Gibbons of Livingston, Dorothy Scott (Mark) of Indianapolis, IN,
and Brenda Thomas (Dennis) of Brodhead; two brothers, Campbell Gibbons
of Dayton, OH and Cecil Gibbons of Crab Orchard; three sisters, Vina
Morgan and Verna Sandlin, both of Dayton, OH and Marie Callahan of
Livingston; and one half-sister, Isabelle Todd of Crab Orchard. Also
surviving are 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
