Mr. Loyd Alva Griffith, age 82 of Rt. 5 Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, Dec. 11 at the Winchester Center for Health & Rehabilitation in Winchester. He was born in Rockcastle County on Aug. 7, 1921 the son of William and Eliza Hurley Griffith. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Virginia Earls (William) of Winchester, KY, Colleen Langford (Gary) of Mt. Vernon, and Joyce Day (Gary) of Xenia, OH; a brother, Sherman Griffith of Glen Coe, KY; and a sister, Gertrude Cole of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Holt Griffith; two brothers; and two sisters.
