Mrs. Marie Himes McCracken, age 86 of Rt. 2 Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, May 18 at the Rockcastle Hospital. She was born in Rockcastle County on Dec. 12, 1917 the daughter of Laura Himes. She was a homemaker and attended the New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Roscoe Himes (Mildred) of Orlando and Thomas McCracken (Patsy) of Berea; six daughters, Barbara Powell (Ray) of Climax, Martha Brumett (James) and Mary Lou Fish (Edward), both of Carlos, IN, Marlene Brewer (Scott) and Danna Stewart (Jerrold), both of Richmond, IN, and Geraldine Lawhorn of Mt. Vernon; and one sister, Janie Himes of Berea. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McCracken; her mother, Laura Himes; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
