Mrs. Elizabeth McNew age 88, of
Mt. Vernon died Friday January 9, 2004
at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was born on
November 17, 1915 in Mt. Vernon the daughter of the late Charles Carter and Suda Mae
Riddle Carter. She was a homemaker, she and her husband Walter were former operators of
McNew’s Restaurant, and was a member of the Wildie Christian Church.
Survivors are: one son; Michael McNew of Lexington, Ky.. Three
brothers; Floyd Carter of Mt. Vernon, Charles Carter, and wife Dorthy of
Mt. Vernon, and
Kenneth Carter, and wife Martha also of Mt. Vernon. Three sisters; Mrs. Ione Parsons of
Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Glenna Baker, and husband Byron of Mt. Vernon, and Mrs. Irene Anderkin,
and husband John of Mansfield, Ohio. One sister-in-law; Mrs. Louise Carter of
Mt. Vernon. Two grandchildren; Mrs. Lisa Eldridge, and husband Chad, and Macie
Becknell. Two great grandchildren; Elizabeth “Liz” Gumm, and Sarah Marie Becknell also
survive. She was preceded in death by: her husband; Walter McNew, by two brothers;
Henry, and Clarence Carter, and by one sister; Dicie Ford. |
