Mr. William “Shorty” Moore, age 81 of Mt. Vernon died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at the home of his son. He was born in Rockcastle County on July 24, 1922 the son of George and Bertha Bullock Moore. He was a retired boiler fireman engineer at the Bluegrass Army Depot.

He is survived by two sons, Estill “Tobo” Moore of Mt. Vernon and Donnie “Buck” Moore of Bowling Green, SC; one daughter, Lyda and Eddie Alcorn of Mt. Vernon; and one brother, Robert Moore of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Janice Alcorn Smith and Christie Moore Guinn; three great grandchildren, R.J. Smith, Emma Smith, and Dylan Moore; and a special friend Odie B. Phillips.
