Mr. John Freeman Powell, age 66 of Berea, died
Saturday, June 12 at the Marymount Hospital in London the result of an
apparent heart attack. He was born in Rockcastle County on Mar. 18, 1938
the son of Bradley and Floy Ketron Powell. He was a retired railroader
and was retired from the Kentucky National Guard as part of the 2123rd
Richmond Transportation Division. He was a member of the Berea Church of
Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Ruth Powell of East
Bernstadt; two daughters, Jackie Sue Powell of Delaware, and Janet
Andrews (Greg) of Berea; two grandsons, Brandon and Dylan; one
granddaughter, Taylor; six stepchildren, Wendell Parrett (Peggy) and
Jeff Parrett (Lana), both of Annville, Tony Parrett (Teresa) and Debra
McDaniel (Junior), both of Berea, Sheila Johnson (Marcus) of Dallas, GA,
and Cathy Proffitt (Charles Lee) of London; five brothers, James Powell
(JoAnn) of Somerset, Albert Powell (Judy) and George Powell (Karen),
both of Mt. Vernon, Jesse Powell (Loretta) and Frank Powell (Debbie),
both of Berea; four sisters, Freada Clark (Lloyd) and Mary Hill
(Sherman), both of Mt. Vernon, Martha Fowler (Bill) of Fairview, and
Frances McKeehan (Gerald) of Berea; and several nieces of nephews. He
was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley Fields
Powell; one sister, Virginia Powell; and a brother, Willie Powell.
