12-28-1985: Bertha Pittman Smith died. Rockcastle County, Kentucky news article, "Mount Vernon Signal", obit dated 1-09-1986;
Bertha Smith, 89, of Rt. 1, Mt. Vernon. died Dec. 4, 1986 at the Berea Hospital. She was born in Rockcastle County March 2, 1896, the daughter of the late Marion Pittman and Lou Cromer Pittman. She was a member of the Blue Springs Holiness Church. She is survived by three sons, Fred Smith of Rt. 1, Mt. Vernon, Bruce and John Smith, both of Winchester; three daughters, Ms. Virgie Smith of Rt. 1, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Maggie Taylor of Blue Ash, Ohio, and Mrs. Dessie Stevens of Irvine; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando Smith. Services were conducted Jan. 1, 1986 at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home by Bro. Zade McClure. Burial was in the Raspberry Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons. |
