Dewey Lee Thomas age 95 of Barnesdburg Rd. Somerset formerly of
Clear Creek in Rockcastle county died Wednesday Sept. 10, 2003 at
the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center. Dewey is the widower of
Vergie Dees Thomas and son of the late James H. and Fleura Robinson
Thomas. Dewey was a farmer, and a retired saw mill operator. He
loved trees and working with wood. Dewey was also a member of the
Macedonia Baptist Church at Scaffold Cane.
Dewey is survived by 11 children: Ruth Tankersley of
Nicholasville, KY. Louise (Bob) Davis of Berea. Pat (Harry) Pallant
of Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Michael (Janice) Thomas of Somerset, KY.
Phyllis (Hugh) Hendricks of Berea. Mary Jane (Gene) Isaacs of Mt.
Vernon, KY. Jimmy Thomas of Somerset, KY. JC (Margie) Thomas of
Somerset. Barbara (John) Fischer of Somerset. Cathy (Eddie) Barnes
of Somerset. And Marjorie (James) Norris of Cynthiana, KY. 39
grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 11 great great
grandchildren. 1 brother Joe Thomas of Berea. 3 sisters Mary Harding
of Clear Creek, Mossie Mullins of Berea, and Edna Southworth of
Georgetown, KY. As well as several sisters in law. Dewey was
preceded in death by 1 son Clayton Lee Thomas and 3 brothers Ernest,
Harvey, and Virgil Thomas. 3 grandchildren, and 3 great
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday Sept. 13, 2003 at 2:00 PM at
the Lakes Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Harding officiating. Burial
will be in the Dees-Harding Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons:
Jason Nicely, Gary Hendricks, John Jackson, Kevin Thomas, Mathew
Isaacs, Danny Thomas, Jack Simons, David Hewitt, Robert Lee Davis,
and Duane Tankersley. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 – 9:00 PM
at the Lakes Funeral Home.
