Mrs. Ruth Winstead Weaver, age 86 of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, May 29 at the Rockcastle Health & Rehabilitation Center in Brodhead. She was born in Rockcastle County on Oct. 12, 1917 the daughter of James A. and Mary Jane Kinley Winstead. She was a retired store clerk for Cummins Grocery and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by her husband, William Weaver; one son, Bobby G. Harper of Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Lillie Saylor of Mt. Vernon; and four half-sisters, Dolly Roberts of Mt. Vernon, Bonnie Crowe of Florida, Kallie Allen of Peitmont, MO, and Imogene Mergenthal of Troy, MO. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, including Lisa Harper, and Tamara Avera (Donald), 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy W. Harper; four brothers, Isaac, Edd, Gaines, and Roy Winstead; one sister, Mattie Cromer; two half-brothers, Clinton Winstead and Ray Berry; and one half-sister, Betty Bullens.
