"Bob" Thompson Dead
Well-Known Citizen Passes Away At Seventy-Six
Trouble Was Cancer Of The Stomach -
Funeral And Burial This Afternoon

Mr. R. B. Thompson, one of the best - known citizens of Trigg county, died yesterday morning about eight o'clock at the home of Miss Bettie Wharton, five miles north of Cadiz, where he had made his home for several years. He had been in feeble health for some time, but his condition became critical only a few days ago and cancer of the stomach was the probably cause of his demise.

"Bob" Thompson as he was known by his many intimate friends, was a native of the county and had spent his life here. He was seventy-six years of age, and was a son of Moses and Clarisa Smith Thompson, who lived for many years at the old Thompson "tanyard" place three miles south of Cadiz. He was one of eight children, the only survivors being Mr. James P. Thompson, of Hopkinsville, and Mrs. T. T. Watson, of Madisonville, both of whom are here to attend the funeral and burial this afternoon.

He was a Confederate soldier, and during the Culpepper meeting in Cadiz in September 1916, made a profession of religion and united with the Cadiz Baptist church. He was a jolly whole-souled man, had many friends and enjoyed the company of his companions, and was held in high esteem by all.

Funeral services will be held at East End Cemetery in Cadiz this afternoon at two o'clock conducted by his pastor, Rev. Oliver Shank, and the burial will follow in the family lot.
