General John Thomas Croxton (1836-1874) — also known as John T. Croxton — of Paris, Bourbon County, Ky.

Born near Paris, Bourbon County, Ky on November 20, 1836. He was a graduate of Yale and a lawyer. He was General in the Union Army (Army of the Cumberland) during the Civil War. His commanding officers often called him "the best soldier Kentucky has furnished to the war". He suffered a leg wound at battle of Nashville. After the war he was U.S. Minister to Bolivia, 1873-74 and died in office 1874 Member, Freemasons. Died in Bolivia, April 16, 1874. Interment at Paris Cemetery
