Fourth Generation 18. Edward Turner was born in 1781 in Wilkes Co, NC and died in 1850 in Breathitt Co, KY at age 69.
General Notes: "Descendants of Edward Turner" notesThe date of arrival of the Turner in K entucky is uncertain. There is an Edward Turner and a John Turner in the 1 810 Census of Clay County, Kentucky. Thomas Turner purchased land in Breat hitt County, Kentucky in 1822 on Turkey Creek. Roger Turner is listed as l iving in the home of his son, Thomas in the 1840 Census in Breathitt Count y, Kentucky.
There is a record of an Edward Turner who was in Captain Ambrose Carlton 's Company in the War of 1812, in Wilkes County, North Carolina. The re is also a record of an Edward Turner on teh Muster Roll of Captain Agus tin Pugh's Company in Currituck County, North Carolina. There is also reco rd of an Edward Turner who sold land on the Nolichucky River in Knox Count y, Tennessee in 1818.
Edward Turner, son of Roger Turner and Sarah Speed, died between 1850 a nd 1853 in Breathitt County, Kentucky. In 1858, his wife, Sarah Buttery Tu rner applied for a Declaration of Bounty Land on Edward's service in the W ar of 1812. Sarah stated she was 70 years of age and had been dead abo ut 5 years. Edward Turner's record of service in Kentucky has not been fou nd. Therefore, if Edward was in the War of 1812 and that service was fr om Wilkes County, North Carolina then he may not have been in Kentuc ky in 1810. That could have been another Edward Turner. There were other T urner families in Kentucky prior to 1800.
