Shofner Abstracts

The following bits of information were taken from the Green County, Ky Order Books v. 2-7 microfilmed by the Kentucky Historical Society. I will also include various other bits of information which are not directly related to Shofner research.

June 7, 1801 p.42 - Jas Pringle relinquishes his certificate for 300 acres and obtained 40 acres.

November 29, 1803 - "Ordered that the money arising from the sale of the old courthouse be paid to Robert Allen and Waller (or Walter) Bullock for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the additional work to the new courthouse to wit for building the chimney."

March 26, 1804 - William Gill deceased

- "Henry Shofner's ear mark to wit swallow fork in the left ear and a slit and underbit in the CENTER"

July 23, 1804 - "amt of the sale of the property of Wm Gill"

June 24, 1805 - Henry Shofner vs Hartwell Martens as an appeal from the Judgment of William Sympson, Esquire.
"This day came the parties by their attorney and on the examination of the witnesses of both sides & due deliberation thereon being had, it is considered by the court that the Justice of Jud e(Judgment) be confirmed and that the appellant pay unto the appellee his costs."
"Ordered that Henry Shofner pay William Herndon for one days attendance as a witness against Martens. Delila Stelts (or Stitts, or Stills, or other versions that I saw) for one day, against the same"
"Ordered that Hartwell Martens pay Will Dannel for one days attendence as a witness agt the suit of Shofner(.) Archibald Warner for one day, William Martin for one day at the suit of the same."

April 28th, 1806 p.79 -
fee paid "Robert Shofner Ear mark to wit ~~~~ smooth crop and under Bit in each ear" (~~~ is illegible)

July 28, 1806 - "Ordered that H. Shofner be appointed overseer of the road from the forks of the road by Thompsons to Hartwell Martens and the following boundry be allotted him to wit John Bower(?). John Eaton, James Hash, Saml Combs, Ratliff (?) Tompson, Iasham Woods, Nancy (? maybe Gary) Stacy, John Jackson & David Shofner, and all their Tithes be allotted him to keep the same in repair."

December 1807 p. 156 - Minoah Lasley (name appears for the first time)

April 25, 1808 - Last Will and Testament of Nancy Hutchenson (the first women's LW&T recorded in the county court order book, the wills do not actually appear in these records, just the FACT that they were recorded and most likely appear in the Will books.)
