This is a sketch of Oliver Loving, Pioneer Cowboy and of Lonsome Dove Fame. He was the son of Joseph and Susannah Bourland Loving; he married Susan Daggett Morgan. He was born 1812 and died in 1867 from loss of blood and gangrene poisoning from lack of medical care due to knife wounds from an Indian attack.
