This Indenture made this 11th day of December
1851 between Foster Hurst and James L. Lang of the County of McCracken,
Kentucky of the first part and Calhoun V. Jacob of the county and State
aforesaid of the second part. Witness to the part of the first part for
the consideration of the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars to
them in hand paid the reciept whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted,
bargained, and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, and
convey unto the party of the second part the following property, to wit,
Seven head of horses, now in the livery stable, one carriage and
harness, one stove and pipe, twelve saddles, and blankets, one wheel barrow,
one desk, eight sets g---? and collars and all the fixtures, including
Stall, Lumber, and pump? belonging to said Livery Stable. While the
party of the second part hath this day sold to the party of the first part
to have and to hold the said granted, and bargained unto the party of the
second part, their heirs and assigns forever. And the party of the first
part for themselves, their heirs, executors and adminstrater the above
described property unto the party of the second part their heirs and assigns,
against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever.
Do and will forever warrant and defend by these presents. Provided never
the less the party of the first part is indebted to the party of the second
part on the sum of five hundred and fifty dollars by these three notes
of date 11th December 1851, one due for $100, one at four months for $220
and one at eight months for two hundred and twenty five
dollars and if they shall or any person
for them will and truly pay to the party of the second part the said sum
of $550 and the accuring interest agreeably to the term and effect of the
said notes and all costs accruing thereof on this mortgage, then this indenture
to cease and be of no effect otherwise to remain in full force verture?.
In witness whereof the said party of the first part have hereunto set their
hand and seals the date first above written.

I Braxton Small, Clerk of the County Court
for the County aforesaid do certify that this mortgage from, F.Hurst &
Jas.Lang to Calhoun V. Jacob was on the 11th day of December 1851 acknowledged
before me in my office by the said, Hurst & Lang to be their act and
deed and immediatly placed on the index for record. Whereupon then this
day admitted the same together with this Certificate to record in my office
