According to Hopkins County Vital Statistics [1859 Deaths], William L. Oglesby died January 1859 at the age of 76 years. His parents were Constant and Nancy Ann Coursey Oglesby. He was born in Virginia.
In a 13 July 1987 letter from Ishmael Oakley of Hopkinsville, Ky., to Mary Lovell, Oakley writes, “About twenty years ago, a Mr. J.B. Oglesby living in Muhlenberg County north of Apex told me, Mr. William L. Oglesby was buried in the Dukes Cemetery.”
In the 1850 Federal Census, William L. Oglesby was living in District No. 2, Christian County, Kentucky, with Ephraim H. Dukes & family. According to that record, Oglesby was born about 1782 in South Carolina. Nancy Dukes, Ephraim H. Dukes' wife, was a daughter of Jacob Oglesby, William's brother.

Path to the Dukes-King Cemetery
Location
From Greenville, take US 62 West to KY-189. Turn left (south) on KY-189 and go about six miles to KY-853. Turn left (east) on KY-853 and go about one mile. (This was the location of the old Yost Lee homeplace.) Park there, walk back down the road to a driveway that goes out to a white house. Across from this driveway there is a path that goes up into the woods. Follow this path a short way and you will be in the cemetery. Approximate GPS coordinates: 37.124517, -87.272882.

Margaret Larue, a granddaughter of Marcellus Lile, said when she visited this cemetery in 1968 there were at least 10 unreadable funeral home markers and several sandstone markers. The contributor has made an attempt to identify some of these persons.
While the Muhlenberg County Kentucky Cemeteries books call this cemetery the “Dukes Cemetery”, all available death certificates and obituaries found for persons buried here call the cemetery “King Cemetery.”
