Henry Davis & Fannie Randall

Henry Davis.
Born: 1768, probably Prince Williams Co., Virginia.
Died: April 1805, Muhlenberg County.

Henry Davis was in Muhlenberg by 1799 when he paid taxes on two 200-acre tracts of land on Cypress Creek. He also was listed on the 1799 first grand jury. He left a will (Will Book 1, pages 47-48) in which he names his two sons and “daughters.” Henry is buried in his family graveyard on his farm.

Children of Henry Davis & Fannie Randall:

  1. Randall Davis born about 1792 VA; was in only one Muhlenberg census, 1820, age 16-26. In 1819 Randall sold 200 Acres on Green River to James Sharp. This is last I found of Randall.
  2. Sarah Davis born about 1796. Married in 1812, Muhlenberg, Joseph Heck. Sarah & Joseph had two children, Randall & Frances. Apparently Sarah died before 1825 because that year Joseph married Catherine (Davis) Rogers, widow of Evan Rogers. Catherine was a daughter of the other Henry Davis.
  3. Nancy Davis born 09 May 1796; died 1873; Buried Nelson Creek Church Cemetery; married in Muhlenberg County, 04 December 1820, to John Henry McConnell.
  4. Fanny Randall Davis born 06 May 1797; died 12 Apr 1848; buried Ohio Co., KY. Married Muhlenberg 23 October 1817 to James McConnell.
  5. Hannah Davis born 04 November 1800; died 23 July 1862, Owensboro, Daviess Co., KY; married John Hardin McHenry of Ohio Co., KY.
  6. Mary Davis born 11 November 1802; died 03 July 1862; married as first wife of Harrison D. Taylor in Ohio Co., KY. Buried in Milton Taylor Cemetery, located 3 miles NE of Hartford, KY. (Note: Harrison D. Taylor wrote “his recollections” at age 55. A granddaughter, Mary Taylor Logan, published a book, Ohio Co., KY in the Olden Days, copyright 1926. Book states that Mary Davis Taylor died 02 January 1862, which differs from the Ohio Co., KY cemetery book.)
  7. Henry Davis born 1804; married Elizabeth Smith (born 11 March 1804, NC) in Clark Co., IN, 27 March 1824.
