Henry H. Johnston & Rebecca Price

Henry H. Johnston was born 14 June 1818 in Tell Township, Huntingdon Co., Pennsylvania. He moved with his parents and siblings to Modes Run, Marion Co., Virginia (now West Virginia). After his parents' deaths, he moved with his wife Rebecca Price Johnston and children to the Greenville area in Muhlenberg. He died there 28 November 1869.

  1. Aprus Amon Johnston, born about 1843; married Mary Frances “Fanny” Davis, daughter of Arthur N. Davis, on 16 September 1866 at A.N. Davis's house in Muhlenberg; buried Douglass, Butler Co., Kansas.
  2. Jesse C. Johnston, born November 15, 1844; married Susan A. Davis, daughter of Arthur N. Davis, on 16 September 1866 at A.N. Davis's house in Muhlenberg; died April 8, 1897; buried Tecumseh Mission Cemetery, Pottawatomie Co., Oklahoma.
  3. Martha Johnston, born about 1847; married Lee Frank Shelton; buried Lakeview Cemetery, Providence, Webster Co., Kentucky
  4. Tobitha Johnston, born about 1850; married Joseph N. Paxton; buried Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Greenville, Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky
  5. Mary Johnston, born about 1852; married William Harrison DeCoursey; buried Driskill Cemetery (near Friendship Cemetery) in Muhlenberg. Mary died 6 weeks after the birth of her fourth child Maude DeCoursey, who was reared by Mary's sister Tobitha Paxton.
  6. Rose Ann “Rosina” Johnston, born about 1854; married Thomas J. Durham; moved to Kansas. In 1948, their son was living at Udall, Kansas.
  7. Benjamin Franklin Johnston, born about 1856; married Mary Frances Eades; moved to Hopkins Co., Kentucky; buried Johnson Island Cemetery, Hopkins Co., Kentucky.
  8. James Monroe Johnston, born about 1859; married Esther A. Cundiff; buried Ebenezer Cemetery near Drakesboro, Muhlenberg Co., Kentucky.
  9. Elizabeth Susan Johnston, married Charles R. Lovell
