Elijah Lam & Martha G. Cates

Elijah Lam, son of Peter Lam and Goodwin Cate, was born 05 November 1822 in North Carolina and died 01 October 1892 in Muhlenberg. He is buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Central City. He was a farmer. He married on 08 August 1844 Polk Co., MO, Martha G. Cates.

Martha G. Cates, believed to be a daughter of Robert D. Cates and Margaret Carrigan, was born 30 July 1818 in North Carolina. She died 21 July 1905 in Muhlenberg and is buried with her husband.

  1. John R. Lam was born 19 February 1848 in TN. He died 19 March 1863 in Muhlenberg, and is buried in Old Bethel Cemetery.
  2. William Thomas Lam was born 29 May 1849 in TN. He died about 1897. He married 1) Matilda Catherine “Kate” Humphrey, 25 May 1872, in Muhlenberg; she died 28 December 1880; 2) Sarah “Sada” E. Stroud 12 January 1882.
  3. James Wilson Cates Lam was born 23 June 1851 in Muhlenberg, and died 18 February 1930, Junction City, Boyle Co., KY. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville, KY. He married Nancy Jane Eades, 09 December 1874, Muhlenberg.
  4. Peter Sylvanus Lam was born 09 November 1853 in TN, and died 13 August 1892 in Muhlenberg. He is buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Central City. He married Johanna Rebecca Elizabeth Ann Gish, 01 December 1875 in Muhlenberg.
  5. Martha F. Lam was born 21 June 1856 in Muhlenberg, and died 11 March 1858 of scarlet fever. She is buried in Old Bethel Cemetery.
  6. Margaret M. Lam was born 10 June 1858, Muhlenberg, and died before the 1860 Census.
  7. Sarah Margaret Lam was born 11 July 1859 in Muhlenberg, and died 28 August 1927 in Muhlenberg. She married Isaac Finley Fentress, 24 March 1878, Muhlenberg.
  8. Daniel B. Lam was born 15 October 1860, Muhlenberg, and died 07 September 1916, Muhlenberg. He did not marry.
