Luzerne Mine to Be Enlarged

W. G. Duncan Coal Company develops to greater mining capacity.

The Luzerne mine of the W.G. Duncan Coal Co. is to be enlarged and developed to greater production capacity. Representatives of machinery concerns have been here for some time, going over plans with officers of the company, and plans have about reached the point that active construction work will soon be started. A new modern tipple, capable of sorting and handling at least a thousand tons a day, will be installed, and a new opening will be made, thus affording that capacity of coal to be handled. Exclusive motor equipment will be used in collecting and hauling coal, mules being discarded. And coal loading will be done entirely by machinery of the latest and most efficient type. Fewer men will be required to produce greater volume.
