Eades, Charles E.

Aug. 27, 1853 - Feb. 25, 1910

Charles E. Eades, after an illness of four months from a complication of ailments that baffled and resisted all treatment, died at his home at 5 o'clock last Friday evening, the immediate cause of death being uremic poisoning, which developed in the latest stages of the illness.

The deceased had been in various mercantile enterprises here for 30 years and his was the longest business life in town. A citizen and resident of the county, he was known and respected throughout its bounds. His energies, time and talents were always engaged in every movement that was calculated to inspire and ennoble; his life worthy of the highest emulation.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a prominent character in all its movements, being clerk of the Daviess County Association and moderator of the Muhlenberg County Association, in both positions showing judgment, efficiency and strength.

Thoughtful, quiet, retiring, but coupled therewith were zeal, activity and determination and on all questions his position was made known and his position was right. His private, business and official life all on one true basis, he won and held his friends.

Rev. W.J. Mahoney, pastor, conducted the funeral service at the Baptist Church at 10 o'clock Monday morning, the services being impressive and consoling. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. His wife, two daughters: Miss Miriam Eades and Miss Lillian Eades, and one son: Mr. Howard Eades, are the surviving members of his family, and there is a wide connection of relatives.

Harlan Eades is instantly killed by farm tractor
Tractor turns over on county man last Thursday; funeral held Saturday.

Funeral services for Harlan Houston Eades, 30, who was instantly killed about 5 o'clock last Thursday afternoon when a tractor overturned and crushed him, were held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Popular [sic] Grove church.

Eades was working on the tractor, breaking ground on the Clark Batsel farm in the Cherry Hill section, about two miles from here, when the accident occurred. The tractor had stalled on the edge of a ditch and Batsel, who had been working nearby, was attempting to direct Eades in getting it out. Eades was said to have accidentally put the machine in reverse instead of the forward gear and it turned over.

An investigation was conducted by Coroner Lonnie Bryan, who issued a death certificate.

Eades is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Eades of Muhlenberg county, four brothers and five sisters.

Burial was in the Popular [sic] Grove cemetery, the services being conducted by the Rev. Mr. Kittinger of Bremen.

Eades, John Franklin

Powderly - John Franklin Eades, 83, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Jean Cosby, Powderly, at 3:15 a.m. Monday.

A retired miner, he was born in Muhlenberg County on Jan. 13, 1886. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Besides Mrs. Cosby he is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Marie Moore and Mrs. Mattie Evelyn Byers, both of Evansville; three sons, John Thomas Eades, Walter Fred Eades, both of Powderly; Ernest Eades, Decker, Ind.; 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Brothers, Mrs. Christine Watkins, both of Greenville.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Spears officating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens at Powderly.

Eades, Phillip

Greenville, Ky. - Phillip Eades, 6, died Monday while undergoing surgery in a Madison, Tenn., hospital.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Eades of Madison; three bothers, Jerry, David, and Roger, all at home; a foster grandfather, Joe Scott of Depoy, Ky., and a grandmother, Mrs. George Gould of Hawarden, Ia.

The funeral was scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church near Greenville with the Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Greenville, Ky., Sept. 21 - (Special.) - George W. Eaves, a widely known citizen of Muhlenberg county, died here early this morning while sitting before a fire. He was 76 years old. For many years he had suffered from heart trouble. He leave a widow, two sons, S.C. Eaves, an attorney of this county, and Hugh Eaves, of Little Rock, and two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Mayhugh and Miss Hal N. Eaves. Funeral services will be held to-morrow afternoon.

Funeral Services Held For Former Greenville Man

A funeral service for Hugh Eaves, 68 years old, who died at his home in Memphis at noon last Thursday, was held at the graveside in Evergreen cemetery in Greenville at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Roy H. Short, pastor of the Greenville Methodist church.

Eaves, Ida Clements

Mrs. Ida Clements Eaves, 88, of 5357 Newcut Road, died Saturday at Georgetown Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of South Carrollton, a retired bookkeeper for the Pacific Coal Co. near Central City, and a member of Powderly (Ky.) United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Thomas M. Clements of Baton Rouge, La.; and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery there.

Visitation at the funeral home will be after 10 a.m. Monday.

Tom Eaves Killed Monday At Lakeside Coal Mine

Tom Eaves, 54, of Powderly, was killed at 5:30 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a mine car at the Lakeside mine of the Pacific Coal Company. Funeral services were conducted at the Powderly Methodist church, at 4 p.m. Thursday, by Rev. Finley Hardison, Rev. Rufus Graham and Rev. Mendel Clark. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Central City.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Eaves; three brothers, Charlie Eaves, Louisville; Ben Eaves, Central City, and John Eaves, Powderly; two sisters, Mrs. Jesse Watkins and Mrs. Arthur Brothers, both residing on the Greenville-Depoy road.
