Foley, Clevie Moore

Young Wife's Death.
Mrs. Floyd Foley Dies at Bevier of Typhoid Fever.

Central City, Ky., Sept. 18 - Mrs. Floyd Foley died at her home in Bevier Saturday after a short illness of typhoid fever. Mrs. Foley, who was formerly Miss Clevie Moore, daughter of a former prominent merchant, Woods Moore, deceased, of South Carrollton, was a most estimable lady, loved by all for her beautiful qualities of body and mind, and her early death at the age of seventeen years is a source of sorrow to many. The sympathy of the entire community is with the young husband, who holds the position of weighman for the Crescent Coal company, to the two-months-old baby, and her mother who arrived at her side to receive her child's farewell. Mrs. Moore is the only member of her family left, as her only other child, died just a year ago, from an attack of the same disease.

Foley, Ethyl Heltsley

Mrs. Floyd K. Foley, 76, of 806 Parrish Ave., died Saturday at her home following a heart attack.

Born in Kirkmansville, Ky., on May 8, 1892, she had lived in Owensboro for 15 years. She was a member of the Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and the Owensboro Garden Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lewis Kurre and Mrs. Julia Barbour, both of Owensboro; two brothers, Dr. D.D. Heltsley of Owensboro and King Heltsley of Hopkinsville; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Delbert J. Glenn Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. William James, pastor of the Settle Memorial United Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. A. B. Grass [sic - Gross]. Burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. today.

Foley, Floyd K.

Dr. Floyd K. Foley Dies; Services at Central City Today

Dr. Floyd K. Foley, 71, of 806 Parrish Ave., Muhlenberg County native who had lived in Owensboro since his retirement in 1953, died Sunday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville of a heart ailment.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. today at the Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, by the Rev. Harold Matthews, pastor of the Central City First Methodist Church. Burial was in South Carrollton cemetery.

Dr. Foley left Saturday morning and returned to the hospital for further treatment prior to his death Sunday.

A native of South Carrollton, Dr. Foley was a son of the late Timothy and Fanny Foley, pioneer residents of Muhlenberg County. He attended the public schools and West Kentucky College at South Carrollton and was graduated from the Louisville Medical College in 1911. Dr. Foley was a member of the Central City Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War I.

He practiced medicine in Central City from 1911 until 1930 when he went to the Pension Bureau, Washington, DC, where he served on the staff until 1933. He served as resident physician of the Veterans Hospital in Lexington, Ky., for the next several years.

Dr. Foley's next assignment was as superintendent of Eastern State Hospital, Lexington. He was transferred to Western State Hospital, Hopkinsville, where he served until he retired in 1953. He had lived here with his wife, Mrs. Ethel Foley, since retirement.

Surviving besides the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lewis Curry and Mrs. Julia Barber, both of Owensboro; six grandchildren; two brothers, Kennedy Foley, Central city, and William Newton Foley, Drakesboro; one sister, Mrs. Ella Whitmer, Sacramento.

Pallbearers for the funeral today were Jess Moore, B.A. Hickey, C.C. Donovan, J.B. Lawton, E.A. Rhoades, and Herbert Eades.

Ford, James N.

James N. Ford, the oldest Mason in Muhlenberg county, is dead. His age was 84 years.

Ford, Norris E.

Rev. Norris E. Ford, 68, dies; retired KU plant employee

The Rev. Norris E. Ford, 68, of Central City, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18 in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

Born Aug. 2, 1917 in Christian County, he was a minister and retired boiler operator at the Green River Power Station of the Kentucky Utilities Co. He was a member of the Echols Church of God. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Melva Ford; two sons, Wayne Ford and Jerry Ford of Central City; four daughters, Mrs. Connie Gibson of Dixon, Mrs. Judith Dunning of Greenville, Mrs. Nancy Locke and Mrs. Cynthia Terry of Central City; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; five brothers, James Ford and Cletus Ford of Madisonville, Clyde Ford and Frank Ford of Earlington and Douglas Ford of Nashville, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Tucker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Crockett officiating, assisted by the Rev. Frank Penniger and the Rev. Larry Marler. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Cleaton - Wallace Ford, 69, of Cleaton, died Sunday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. Born in Todd County, he was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Henry Ford, Oaklawn, Ill.; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Flora Southard, Louisville, and two brothers, Arthur Ford, Cleaton, and Charles Ford, Central City.

Services 2:30 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. Gerald Jones, pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City.

Forgy Baby Dies

Dunmor - Connie Sue Forgy, 10-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernie Forgy of Lewisburg Route 2, died Wednesday, March 19.

Funeral services were held at Dunmor Baptist Church on Thursday, March 20, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Enin Hall officiating. Interment was in Olive Grove Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.

Survivors besides the parents are the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walton Forgy of Lewisburg Route 2; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Margeret Covington of Clifty; and great-grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Sumner of Dunmor.

Fortner, Dillard D.

The Rev. Dillard D. Fortner, 95, of 1212 Hall St., Owensboro, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 1988, at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. He was born in Butler County; was pastor of Pilgrim Holiness Church in Central City, Pilgrim Holiness Church in Cloverport and Morgantown Wesleyan Church for over 50 years before retiring; and was a member of Wesleyan Church Southside in Owensboro. His first wife, Ethel Youngbluth Fortner, died Nov. 13, 1967.

Survivors include his wife, Plina Lou Fortner; two daughters, Daisy Walston of Muskogee, Okla., and Berl Bolender of Dayton, Ohio; a stepson, Manuel Conner of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Shirley Krewson of Maceo; 16 grandchildren; around 90 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertha Bolender of Lexington.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.

Burial in Hill Haven Memorial Gardens, Morgantown, where graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Miss Anna Pearl Fortney Dies in Central City

Funeral services for Miss Anna Pearl Fortney, 69, who died at 5:30 p.m., Friday were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday at the grave in Fairmount Cemetery.

Surviving are two brothers, U.C. Fortney, Central City, and Carl Fortney, Louisville; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Lam, Mrs. Ina Carson of Louisville, and Mrs. Flora Risley of Jeffersonville, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

The body was taken to the Anderson Funeral Home.

“Uncle” Mike Fosko Taken By Death
Funeral Services Held Sunday Afternoon, Conducted by the Rev. Paul S. Durbin.

Mike Fosco, known to most of his acquaintances as “Uncle Mike,” died at his home in North Third street last Saturday about noon. He was 73 years of age, a native of Italy, but had lived in America some 45 years and in this city for the greater part of that time, where he operated a peanut and pop-corn machine.

Father Durbin conducted a service for the deceased at the Catholic church Sunday afternoon, which was followed by interment in Fairmount Cemetery.

Mike Fosco is survived by a brother, Henry Fosco, a resident also of Central City. His wife died some four years ago. He took an orphan boy in its babyhood and raised him as Tony Fosko. He now lives in Paducah.

Foster, E.A.

Killed by Heavy Timber

E.A. Foster, an employe of the Central Coal and Iron Company at Central City, while assisting in removing a large piece of timber from some of the company's buildings, Tuesday, was fatally injured by the timber falling on his head and neck. His skull was fractured, jaw bone and nose broken and his neck badly bruised. He died Wednesday afternoon having never regained consciousness.

Fowler, Nelle

Mrs. Nelle Fowler succumbs to malady

Mrs. Nelle Fowler, 23, wife of Mr. William Edgar Fowler, Jr., died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lon Tweddell, in Central City, Tuesday afternoon at about 3:30 o'clock, of a complication of diseases.

Mrs. Fowler had been in poor health for two years and was confined to her bed two months previous to her death. She attended Belmont College in Nasvhille, Tenn., and was a successful teacher in the Central City and Calhoun High schools.

She was a fine type of womanhood, with a sweet disposition and loved by all who knew her. She was born in Hartford, and together with her parents left here several years ago. She has often since visited friends and relatives here, who regret to learn of her death. Besides her husband, to whom she had been married only three months, and her parents, she is survived by other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted from the home of her parents with interment in the Central City cemetery, yesterday.
