Kaiser, Anton

Greenville - Anton Kaiser, 84, of Braidwood, Ill., died at 2 a.m. Friday at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital here, following several weeks of illness.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Kaiser; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Wright, St. Louis, Mrs. Mary Burger, Martin Grove, Ill.; two sons, Robert Kaiser, Skokie, Ill., Joe Kaiser, Greenville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The body was removed from the Gary Funeral Home here to the Patterson Funeral Home at Braidwood, where services and burial will be conducted Monday.

Karalevicz, John

Central City - John Karalevicz, 67, of North 3rd Street here, died at Muhlenberg Community Hospital late Wednesday. Born Sept. 19, 1905, in Plymouth, Pa., he was a retired miner and construction worker. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hedwig Karalevicz, one stepson, John Francis Dugan of Walnut Creek, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Wesley Taylor of Central City; nine step-grandchildren; one brother, Phil Karalevicz of Plymouth, Pa.; and one sister, Miss Nellie Karalevicz of Plymouth, Pa.

The funeral will be at 8 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Carmon deChristopher officiating. Burial will be in Muhlenberg Cemetery in Plymouth, Pa. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Karalevicz, Hedwig Therese

Central City - Hedwig Therese Karalevicz, 60, of Central City, died Saturday at Hopkins County Hospital. Born in Pringle, Pa., she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, John Francis Dugan, Walnut Creek, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Wesley Taylor, Central City; nine grandchildren, and two brothers, Albert Ajkowicz and Steven Ajkowicz, both of Bridgeport, Conn.

Services 3 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Carman DeChristopher, pastor, officiating. Burial 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Cemetery, Plymouth, Pa. Friends may call at Tucker funeral Home, Central City.

Kelly, Jennie

A funeral service for Mrs. Jennie Kelly, 84 years old, who died at her home here at 12 o'clock Monday, after a long illness, was held at the home at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Arthur B. Gross, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and the Rev. Roy H. Short, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery here.

Surviving Mrs. Kelly are three daughters, Mrs. C. W. Taylor, Mrs. R. D. Brooks, and Mrs. Jean Simpson, all of Greenville, and one son, Dan Kelly, of Madisonville.

Kelly, Roy

Young man was drowned in Green river
Called for aid soon after he jumped into water but could not be reached.

Roy Kelly, nineteen years of age, a former Daviess county boy, was drowned in Green river a few miles from Central City, at 7 o'clock Friday night. He was in swimming and was seized with cramps. Despite the heroic efforts of his young companion, Dunbar McElhinny, of Central City, to rescue him, he sank for the third time and his body floated down stream out of reach of the young man.

Mr. Kelly was employed in Central city as steongrapher for W. D. McElhinny, of the Central Coal and Iron company. After office hours in company with Dunbar McElhinny, he went to the river to swim. He had just plunged into the water when he called to McElhinny to come to his assistance. He was very warm when he reached the river, and when he jumped into the cold water he was seized with cramps. McElhinny caught Kelly twice when he came to the surface of the water, but was unable to reach the shore with him. When he sank a third time his body was carried down stream.

McElhinny returned to Central City, and a party immediately left and dragged the river to recover the body.

Mr. Kelly was a son of Mrs. Rhoda Kelly, who resides at Utica. He was a nephew by marriage of Mr. J. Q. Haynes, of Owensboro and was held in high esteem by the business men of Central City.

Kennedy, Sam

Sam Kennedy, 68, of Greenville, Dies

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon for Sam Kennedy, 68, at his home in Greenville. Mr. Kennedy died at the Illinois Central Hospital in Paducah, from complications following the amputation of an infected toe. He had been a section foreman on the Illinois Central for 40 odd years.

Surviving are his wife and ten children, seven sons and three daughters. Seven of the boys are in the Armed Forced, two being overseas. Two were home for the funeral.

Burial was in the Depoy Cemetery.

Kimmel, Mary Alice

Cleaton, Ky. - Mrs. Mary Alice Kimmel, 66, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital at Greenville.

Born in Muhlenberg County on Dec. 27, 1904, she was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Paul Taylor Ferguson, Baltimore, Md., a brother, Stroud Taylor, Route 2, Greenville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. R. D. Mize, pastor of the Cleaton Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Tucker Funeral Home at Central City.

King, Daisy Earl

Central City - Daisy Earl King, 87, of Fourth and Devine streets, Central City, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1988, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. She was born in Horse Branch and was a member of Crossing Holiness Church.

Survivors include a son, James E. King of Radcliff; three daughters, Helen McPherson and Juanita King, both of Evansville, Ind., and Marjorie Fritz of Graham, Wash.; 29 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Willie Heath of Central City.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City. Visitation after 12:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

King, Elestrial

Central City, Ky. - Elestrial King, 59, of Central City died Sunday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. He was born in Grayson County.

Survivors include his mother, Daisy King of Central City; four sons, Elestrial Jr., Gary, Henry, and Larry King, all of Hammond, Ky.; five daughters, ,June Harper of Central City, Mary Tooley and Jeannette Oaks, both of Wadesville, Ind., Tresa King of Evansville and Ann O'Rieley of Sacramento; a brother, james King of Fort Knox, Ky., and three sisters, Marjorie Fritz of Tacoma, Wash., Jonita King of Evansville and Helen McPherson of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation after 2 p.m. today.

King, Ruth Ann

Mrs. Ruth Ann King died here Sunday

Mrs. Ruth Ann King, died at the home of her grandson, Sol Embry, in Central City last Sunday, following several weeks illness. The daughter of Ned Reynolds and Sarah Johnson Reynolds, she was born 85 years ago in Grayson County, Kentucky, where she spent most of her life prior to coming to Central City to make her home.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday at the Nelson Creek Church by the Rev. Clay Gary and interment was in the church cemetery.

King, W.H.

Kipling, Cynthia Tunstill

Mrs. Cynthia Tunstill Kipling, age 70 years, died at her home near Drakesboro, March 13, [1943], at 8:30 a.m. after a lingering illness. She was married to George S. Kipling, February 14, 1893, who passed away five years ago. To this union two sons were born, Robert E. and Charles. Besides the sons, she leaves nine grandchildren and one great grandson; also two brothers, Sherman and Charlie Tunstill and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted March 15 at Paradise Baptist Church by Rev. O.L. Weir of Madisonville, assisted by Rev. M.V. Cotton of Greenville, with burial in Weir Cemetery. Mrs. Kipling lived her entire life in the neighborhood in which she was born. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and was an active member of the Drakesboro Methodist Church as long as health permitted. She was kind and generous and loved by all her friends and neighbors.

Kipling, George S.

George S. Kipling, 73, Died at Home Wednesday, December 9, 1937

George S. Kipling, 73 years old, a life-long resident of Muhlenberg County, died at his home near Paradise at 5:55 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, December 8 after an illness of 13 days. He was a farmer and stock dealer. Mr. Kipling was a son of Robert and Rhoda Kipling, who came from England and settled at Airdrie Hill. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Robert and Charles Kipling, Paradise; nine grandchildren; a brother, Henry Kipling, Paradise; two sisters, Miss Bettie Kipling, Paradise and Mrs. Maggie Conley, Rosedale, IN. Mr. Kipling professed Christ in early manhood and united with the Methodist church Drakesboro. In his passing the family has lost a devoted husband and father, the community one of their most honorable citizens. Funeral services were conducted from the residence on Friday, December 10, at 12 o'clock noon, by Rev. O.L. Wise (Weir), pastor of the Livermore Baptist Church. Burial was in the Weir Cemetery.

Pallbearers were O.F. Buchanan, Roy Dennis, Sherman Tunstill, Andy Glenn, Edward Casebier, and Mr. Hill.

Kirkpatrick, Mrs. L.M.

Mrs. L.M. Kirkpatrick, wife of a leading stock dealer of Muhlenberg county, suddenly dropped from her chair while sitting at the table a few days ago, and expired before assistance could reach her. She was 60 years old, and died of heart disease.

Kirtley, Harlan W.

Harland W. Kirtley, 81, Buried Today

Drakesboro - Harlan W. Kirtley, 81, died at his home in Drakesboro Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8:30 a.m. of a lingering illness. He was born in Muhlenberg County Dec. 10, 1878.

Mr. Kirtley was a member of the Paradise Baptist Church where funeral services are being conducted today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. S.A. Kittinger, Bremen, officiating. The Rev. George Archer, pastor of the Drakesboro Baptist Church, will assist. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Kirtley; daughter, Mrs. Mary Jernigan of Powderly; four sons, Howard Kirtley of Central City, James Kirtley of Drakesboro, Ray Kirtley of Louisville, Wilbur Kirtley of Gary, Ind.; brother, Harry Kirtley of Central City Route 2; 10 grandchildren.

Kittinger, Edna

Mrs. Frank Kittinger, 79, Dies in California

Long Beach, Calif. - Mrs. Edna Kittinger, 82, widow of the late Frank Kittinger and a former resident of Central City, died March 19 in a hospital in Long Beach, Calif.

Surviving are a son, Melvin Kittinger of Long Beach; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Golden Gate Cemetery, Long Beach, Friday, March 22.

Mrs. Gilbert Fleming of Powderly, Mrs. Mary Powell, of Greenville and Mrs. Ethel Hendricks of Bremen are her nieces. Roy and Denzil Noffsinger of Central City and Joe Noffsinger of Detroit, Mich. are nephews.

Kittinger, Jennie Buford

Mrs. O.T. Kittinger dies at Cleaton home

Mrs. Jennie Buford Kittinger died at 9 a.m. Sunday at her home at Cleaton. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Cleaton Baptist church by the Rev. J. A. Kittinger. Burial was in the Miller cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, O.T. Kittinger; two sons, Earl Buford, of Nelson, and Elmer Buford, Cleaton, and one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Todd of Cleaton.

Knight, Edward Ray

Beech Creek - Rev. Edward Ray Knight, 63, of Route 1, Beech Creek, died on Thursday, June 17, 1993 at 1:50 p.m. at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Rev. Knight was born in Muhlenberg County on November 6, 1929. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Union Tank Car.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Knight of Beech Creek; two sons, Paul Knight of Jeffersonville, IN, and Marvin Knight of Beech Creek; two daughters, Rita McQuady of Greenville and Ellen Buchanan of Browder; six grandchildren; three brothers, John Knight of Calhoun, William “Happy” Knight and Chester Knight, both of Beech Creek; and a sister Geneva Mae Joines of Beech Creek.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19 at 3:00 p.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. James Shutt officiating. Burial was in Wyatts Chapel Cemetery.

Knight, Everett

Greenville - Everett (Jack) Knight, 70, of Greenville, died there Thursday at Maple Manor Nursing Home here. Born in Muhlenberg County, he was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Surviving are four brothers, Sam, Louis and Dallas Knight, all of Dayton, Ohio, and James Knight, Chicago, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Ora Mallory, Greenville.

Services 1 p.m. Sunday at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. John Brandon officiating. Burial in Union Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.

Knight, Ora Jane

Mrs. Skimehorn's Mother, 85, Dies

Mrs. Ora Jane Knight, 85, formerly of the Nortonville community, died in Ohio County Hospital in Hartford at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7.

She was born in Salem on July 8, 1888 and had lived in Lake View Nursing Home in Morgantown for the past several years.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Eunice Skimehorn of Central City Route 2; son, James Edward Knight of Mannington; 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Anna Morton of Lola, Ky.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday in Nortonville by the Rev. Dwight Small with burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Knight, Vernie Novella

Powderly - Mrs. Vernie Novella Knight, 79, of Powderly, died Friday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. Born in Logan County, she was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Surviving are three sons, Warren, Terrel and Thurman Knight, all of Central City; a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Antonio, Arroyo Grande, Calif.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, W.M. Penrod, Central City, and a sister, Mrs. Audrey Hudnall, Russellville.

Services 2 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with Roger Watts officiating. Burial in Powderly Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home.
