Elgan Oates, 55, buried Dec. 26
Greenville - Elgan Oates, 55, died Dec. 25 in Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a long illness. He was born in this county and was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Flora Belle Oates; three daughters, Mrs. E. W. Wagner, Greenville Route 1, Mrs. George W. Dukes, Greenville Route 3, and Mrs. Lois Ray McGhee, Greenville; 11 grandchildren; sister, Miss Myrtle Oates, Graham; three brothers, Milton Oates, Graham Route 1, Ervye Oates, Spottsville, and Kelly W. Oates, Wayne, Mich.
Services were held Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. at Yeargins Chapel Church by the Rev. Kenneth Johnson, assisted by Rev. W.C. Morris. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Actor Warren Oates dies; was native of Kentucky
Los Angeles - Warren Oates, who played a boozing, brawling bad guy in scores of television and film roles, has died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 52.
Powderly - Aaron F. Oglesby, 59, of Powderly, died late Thursday at Hopkins County Hospital, Madisonville, after a long illness. Born Oct. 8, 1914 in Muhlenberg County, he was a member of Woodson Baptist Church and a member of Pond River Masonic Lodge.
Survivings are his wife, Mrs. Helen Oglesby, Powderly; one son, Rodney Oglesby, Powderly; two daughters, Miss Debbie Oglesby of Powderly and Mrs. Edward Yevincy of Greenville; four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Jean Edwards and Mrs. David Tinsley, both of Route 1, Bremen.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. Houston Noffsinger, pastor of Woodson Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Powderly.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home in Central City.
Central City - Arthur Franklin Oglesby, 74, died at his home, Route 3, Central City, Monday. He owned and operated a story on Ky. 70. He was born in Muhlenberg County.
Oglesby was a member of the Cherry Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Naomi Oglesby; one son, Aaron Oglesby, Powderly; two daughters, Mrs. Lorine Tinsley and Mrs. Eva Jean Edwards, both of Central City; 13 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST Wednesday at the Tucker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Houston Noffsinger, pastor of the Woodson Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Coleman Cemetery.
The body is at the Tucker Funeral Home.
Central City - Mrs. Naomi Oglesby, 79, of Route 3, Central City, died at 4:05 a.m. Sunday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
She was born in Muhlenberg County on Jan. 2, 1890.
She was a member of Woodson Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Aaron of Powderly; two daughters, Mrs. Lorine Tinsley of Walton and Mrs. Eva Jane Edwards of Route 3, Central City; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, the Rev. Bob Spears and Elzie Spears, both of Powderly, and the Rev. Joe Spears of Bremen; one sister, Mrs. Delia Boggess of Route 1, Bremen.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Tucker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Houston Noffsinger. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.
Mrs. Martha Oldham dies suddenly
Mrs. Martha Oldham, 78 years old, died suddenly at 5:30, Tuesday afternoon, March 7, at the home of her son, Pratt Oldham at Graham.
It is reported that Mrs. Oldham was on the front porch when death occurred. Her sudden death was contributed to apoplexy, according to Coroner Lonnie Bryan, who held an inquest over the body.
Funeral services were conducted at eleven o'clock this morning, Thursday, at the Unity Church.
The following children survive: Pratt Oldham, Graham; Andy Oldham, Harrisburg, Ill.; David Oldham, near Midland, Ky.; Mrs. Charley Eaves, Powderly, and Mrs. Dilmus McIntosh, White Plains, Ky.
Central City - George C. O'Neal, 71, died in his home near Central City at 8 p.m., Saturday [February 23, 1957]. He was a retired farmer, was born in Paradise, KY, October 25, 1885. He was a member of the South Carrollton Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dee Humphrey O'Neal; two daughters, Mrs. William Sakal, Fontana, CA, and Mrs. Don Lam, Versailles, KY; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Sears, Indianapolis, IN, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. John L. Parker, of Central City, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bobby Morris, Glencoe, KY. Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery in Central City.
Madisonville. Mrs. R. Dee O'Neal, 100, of 344 East Center Street, Madisonville, died Thursday, October 20 at 12:25 p.m. at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Mrs. O'Neal was a housewife and was born in Muhlenberg County on January 1, 1888.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Sakal of Fontana, California, and Dorann Lam of Madisonville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 22 at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Archie Oliver officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Mrs. Nancy O'Neil, 76, Dies in Central City
Mrs. Nancy Miller O'Neil, 76, died at her home in Central City at 7:35 a.m. Friday following a lingering illness.
Mrs. O'Neil was born in Muhlenberg County, January 26, 1875. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Central City, and a past member of the Rebekah's.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Hazel O'Neil; one son, Russell O'Neil of Central City; one brother, J. R. Kimmel; two sisters, Mrs. Magdaline Williams and Mrs. Bessie Casebier, both of Drakesboro, and one grandson, Michael O'Neil of Central City.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the residence on South Third Street with the Rev. W. E. James, pastor of the Central City Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Cemetery.

Browder, Ky. - Mrs. Hadie Orange, 80, of Browder, died at Muhlenberg Community Hospital early Saturday. Born in Muhlenberg County, she was a member of the Browder Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, James Edward Orange, Hobard, Ind., and J.D. Orange, Browder; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Kuhn, Drakesboro, Mrs. Ausa Mae Eddings, Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Louvera Allene Evans, Maryville, Ind.; a brother, Herbert Sheppard, Browder; two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Orange, Browder, and Mrs. Nadine Donaldson, Vincennes, Ind.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Service 2 p.m. today at Browder Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Herold, pastor, and the Rev. Ronald Burnett officiating. Burial in Forest Grove Cemetery. Greenville - Fred Nelson Owen, 64, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday following a short illness.
He was born on November 19, 1904, in Casey County, was an electrician employed at the Paradise TVA plant.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Greenville.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie Owen; one son, Buland Owen, of Route 1, Graham; three grandchildren; three brothers, Theodore of Ingle, Willard of Windsor, and Achillus of Knightstown, Ind.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Gary's Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Marvin Freeman. Burial will be in Yeargins Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Owen, 57, Dies April 8
Mrs. Mary Margaret Owen, 57, died Thursday, April 8 at 8:05 a.m. in Muhlenberg Community Hospital.
She was born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 11, 1913 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Central City.
She is survived by one daughter, Miss Janice Owen of Central City; son, Larry Owen of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Mrs. Rex Penrod of Detroit.
Funeral services were Sunday at 2 p.m. in Central city by the Rev. Richard Ramsey. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Chester Owens, 67, Buried July 15
Bremen - Mrs. Myrtle Edith Owen, 67, of Bremen route 1, died in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville Saturday, July 12, at 10:56 a.m.
She was born in Spottsville Feb. 8, 1902 and was a member of Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Chester Owen of Bremen Route 1; daughter, Mrs. John Waddell of Bell Brook, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Millie Mount and Mrs. Lucille Shrode, both of Evansville; brother, Floyd Freels of Gary, Ind.; six grandchildren.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brier Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Eual Phelps officiating. Burial was in Brier Creek Cemetery.
Central City - Horty (Slick) Owens died at 11 a.m. Monday at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital following a short illness.
He was a native of Tennessee and a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are one daughter, Miss Wilma Owens of Nashville, Tenn., and three sons, James Edward Owens of Nashville, Johnny Owens of Central City and Charles Owens of Fort Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. M. A. Dykes officiating. Burial will be in the West End Cemetery in Greenville.
The body is at the funeral home.
