Simonds, Laura

Laura Simonds, colored, died at the home of her husband in the west end Thanksgiving day, from complications following child birth. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. Irwin, and interment was in the West End Cemetery.

Simpson, Freda Dale

Central City - Freda Dale Simpson, 48, former resident of Central City, died March 22 at Ravenwood Hospital, Chicago.

She was born in Ohio County on March 8, 1919.

She is survived by her husband, L.T. Simpson, Central City; two daughters, Mrs. Maudell Hopkins, Albuquerque, NM, and Miss Freda Louise Simpson, Central City: eight sons, Norman, Walter Ray, Charles F. and Roy Lee Simpson, all of Chicago, Lawrence T. Simpson, Owensboro, Forest Simpson with the Air Force in California, Dink T. Simpson serving in Vietnam, and Rusty Simpson, Central City; nine grandchildren; her mother Mrs. Ora Shown, Central City, a brother, Walter Shown, Central City, and four sisters, Mrs. Louise Stone, Mrs. Geneva Addington and Mrs. Marjorie Hendricks, all of Central City, and Mrs. Pauline Perkins, Louisville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Roy Geary. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Simpson, Geneva

Central City - Mrs. Geneva Simpson, 88, of Austin, Texas, died there Saturday, July 9, 1983. She was born in Harmony, Ind., and was a member of Central City Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Granger Simpson Jr. of Austin and Thomas E. Simpson of Hopkinsville; a daughter, Amy M. Oskins of Plantation, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Freda Swann of Central City, Mrs. Edna Rieger of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Miskel Spillman of New Orleans, La.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Simpson, Granger I.

Central City - Granger I. Simpson Sr., 80, died at Muhlenberg Community Hospital at 8 p.m. Sunday.

He was a retired employe of the Louisville Gas and Electric Co. A World War I veteran, he was born in Durham County, England, April 4, 1890. He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Geneva Simpson; two sons, Tommy Simpson of Hopkinsville and Granger I. Simpson Jr., of Lexington; one daughter, Mrs. Amy Oskins, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home with the Rev. C.W. Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home in Central City.

Simpson, Harold Thomas

Central City, Ky. - Harold Thomas Simpson, 48, IC railroad employe, died at his home here, at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, following a heart attack.

Mr. Simpson was born in Craghead, County Durham, England, February 12, 1898, but had resided in the Central City community for 40 years. He was a member of the Catholic church.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Jimmie, Joseph and David Simpson, one daughter, Patricia Ann Simpson, and one brother, Granger Simpson, all of Central City.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. today in St. Joseph Catholic church, with the Rev. C. Victor Boarman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial cemetery, with brothers-in-law serving as pallbearers.

The body will remain at the Tucker Funeral home until time for the funeral.

Sisk, James Loren

Greenville - Mr. James Loren Sisk, 85, of 217 College Street, Greenville, died Thursday, October 17, 1985, at 3:30 p.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.

Mr. Sisk was born in Hopkins County on November 16, 1899. He was a resident of Greenville most of his life. He was a retired employee of Greenville Post Office where he worked as a postal clerk. He was employed there for 43 years before his retirement in 1960. He was a member of the Greenville First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Nicholson Sisk of Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Felix E. Martin of Greenville and Mrs. Mamie Height of Madisonville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 19 at 2 p.m. at the Gary Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Charles Midkiff of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

Sisk, Kate

Central City, Ky., Feb. 24 - [Special] - Mrs. Kate Sisk, the mother of Prof. Sisk, principal of the South Carrollton school, died at the home of her son in South Carrollton, after a short illness of heart trouble. Accompanied by a number of her friends, the body was taken to her old home at Ashbysburg, Hopkins county, where the funeral occurred today.
