Powderly - George Thomas Slaton, 89, of Powderly, died at Muhlenberg Community Hospital at 10 p.m. Thursday.
He was born Aug. 10, 1879 in Muhlenberg County. He was a member of Powderly Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Slaton of Russellville and Hugh Slaton of Chicago, Ill.; four stepsons, Louis Culbertson of Powderly, and Roy Culbertson, Ray Culbertson and Charley Culbertson, all of Chicago; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary Doss of Russellville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, conducted by the Rev. Gene Harper, pastor of the Powderly Baptist Church. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon today.
Mrs. Hugh Slaton
Central City - Mrs. Irene Marie Slaton, 48, died in Roosevelt Memorial Hospital, Chicago, at 10:15 p.m. Friday, after a long illness. She was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Chicago, and was a member of Post Oak Baptist Church in Russellville.
Surviving are her husband: Hugh Slaton of Chicago, Ill., one daughter, Mrs. Darlene June Taylor Hanover Park, Ill., one son, Ernest Allen Slaton of Chicago; two grandchildren; two brothers, Edward and Patrick Sirles, both of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Sullivan and Miss Helen Sirles both of Mexico; mother, Mrs. Lorraine Spencer of Chicago.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Tucker Funeral Home by the Rev. Joe Carrico, pastor of Post Oak Baptist Church in Russellville. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home in Central City.
Mrs. Josie Slaton, 54, died at 2:45 p.m. last Sunday at her home in Graham. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Gus Stovall at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Graham Baptist church. Burial was in the Unity church cemetery. She is survived by three sons and one sister.
Powderly - Mrs. Nannie Catherine Slaton, 93, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday at Logan County Hospital, Russellville.
She was born in Logan County on Feb. 23, 1874 and was a member of the Spring Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, George Slaton, Powderly; six sons, Roy and Rhea Culberson, Hugh Slaton, all of Chicago, Charles Culberson, Evanston, Ill., Lois Culberson, Powderly, and Edward Slaton, Russellville; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Doss, Russellville; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Cowan, Adairbille.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, conducted by the Rev. Raymond Rich, assisted by the Rev. Joseph Carrico. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
South Carrollton - Wallace Brown Slinker Sr., 66, of South Carrollton, died Friday, Oct. 28, 1988, at Regional Medical Center, Madisonville. He was born in Muhlenberg County, was a farmer and attended the Baptist church in Moorman. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 673 in Central City, was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Scottish Rite in Madisonville, the Order of Eastern Star No. 96 in Bremen, and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Slinker; one son, Wallace Slinker of Central City; one daughter, Teresa Slinker Sallee of Central City; two grandchildren; three brothers, Luther Slinker of Illinois, Guy Ray Slinker of Central City, and Leon Slinker of South Carrollton; and one sister, Esteen Baggett of Cadiz.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City. Visitation after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home where Masonic, Order of Eastern Star and military services will be held at 7 p.m.
