Underwood, Lucinda

Inmate at County Farm Dies.

Mrs. Lucinda Underwood, aged 71 years, died of complication of ailments Saturday afternoon at the poor farm, where she had been an inmate for some years. She was at one time in easy circumstances, but through the reversal of fortune was compelled to seek the shelter offered by the county. Here she was respected by all, as she made herself agreeable and aided in the work as long as she was able. Interment was in the Morehead graveyard Sunday afternoon. This is the first inmate that has died at the farm this year.

Uzzle, James

Funeral services for Rev. James Uzzle, 48, of Hickman, Kentucky, were held Monday, June 21, 1993 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ in Hickman, Kentucky, with the Rev. Fred Sephard officiating. Burial was in Hickman City Cemetery.

Rev. Uzzle was born on August 26, 1944 in Martwick, Kentucky. He was pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ in Hickman. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Phillip Bennett Uzzle.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Uzzle of Hickman; his mother, Opal Segers of Hickman; two sons, Mr. James Phillip Uzzle and Mr. Billy Uzzle, both of Hickman; two daughters, Mrs. Lisa Baker and Mrs. Penny Jones, both of Hickman; five brothers, Mr. Willis Uzzle of Fulton, Mr. Darrell Uzzle of Greenville, Mr. Eugene and Mr. Paul Uzzle, both of Central City, and Mr. Jewell Mercer of Hartford; one sister, Mrs. Mary Dockery of Hartford; and seven grandchildren.

Uzzle, Mamie

Mrs. Mamie Uzzle, 74, Buried Oct. 16

Madisonville - Mrs. Mamie Gossett Uzzle, 74, of Madisonville died in Hopkins County Hospital at 7:10 a.m. Monday after being admitted to the hospital Sunday. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mrs. Uzzle was born in Muhlenberg County May 19, 1894, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Little Son Gossett. She was married to Robert Uzzle in 1910 and to this union two children were born, both of whom preceded their mother in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Uzzle had lived in Madisonville more than 35 years.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Uzzle of Madisonville; three half-brothers, Charlie Gossett of Flint, Mich., and Henry and Columbus Gossett of Central City; sister, Mrs. Ruth Russ of Graham; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Earlington with the Rev. Spurgeon Driver in charge with burial in Old Salem Cemetery near Mortons Gap.
