Transcription

In the name of God, Amen. John Greßo [Gresso] of the County of Muhlenberg & State of Kentucky being of sound mind and memory and understanding but considering the uncertainty of this life think fit to make this my last will and testament in the following manner towit. As touching my worldly estate it is my will and desire that all my just debts be faithfully paid.

First I grant & bequeath unto my beloved wife Anny Greßo [Gresso] my plantation that I now live on for her to rent or sell the plantation as she sees cause or proper and all the household furniture for her use and benefit and it is also my will and desire that all the stock is to be sold that is to say horses, cattle & hogs and sheep and all the farming utencils.

Secondly I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Greßo [Gresso] the half of the land or the value of half of the plantation and the half of all the moveable property that is to say all the money arising therefrom after she comes of age by my executors with an equal part of the personal property.

I likewise make, constitute and ordain my beloved friends Philip Mifler and Benjamin Hawes the sole executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of December one thousand eight hundred & seventeen. Signed, sealed and delivered by me John Greßo [Gresso] as my last will and testament.

The foregoing last will and testament of John Greßo [Gresso] deceased was exhibited into Court and proved by the oaths of Martin Kittinger, Daniel Landis and Peter Shaver subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
