In the name of God, Amen. I, C.H. Martin, 1st Lt. of Co. K, 11th Regt. Ky. Vols., in the county of Muhlenberg. In case I should fall victim to the casualty's of war, I do, this the 2nd day of Sept (1862) in the year of our Lord, make this my last will and testament, in manner following.
First, I desire if possible my body conveyed home and decently buried near my mother without any funeral pomp. Also tombstones erected over my grave, with necessary epitaph and engravings.
I also give and bequeath unto my sisters, namable, Laura Ellen, Mary Isabel and Ann Susan, my entire estate, personal or real or whatever I may possess, which I desire to equally divide among them, and appropriated to the educationing of said sisters, or at least a sufficiency to give them a liberal and substantial education, the remainder to be, if there be a remainder, appropriated to the best advantage for their comfort and accomplishments.
This the 2nd day of Nov. 1862.

The foregoing last will and testament of Lt. C.H. Martin, 11th Regt. Ky. Vols., was exhibited into court and proved to be the act and deed of said decedent by the oaths of W.W. Martin and M. Jeff Roark who testified that the same is wholly in the handwriting of said testator, they being well acquainted with his handwriting, and being approved by the court, was ordered to be recorded.
