Drakesboro - Mrs. Mary Elva Alexander, 60, of Hammond, Ind., and formerly of Muhlenberg County, died at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond Wednesday at 2 a.m. following a short illness.
She was born in Muhlenberg County Nov. 30, 1910, and had lived in Hammond for the past 15 years.
Survivors include three sons, Jewell and Cleone, both of Hammond, and Youl, West Virginia; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Johnson Riddle, Louisville; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Charles B. Fleming, Hammond; and a sister, Mrs. Gracie Sampson, Belton.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Union Chapel Church by the Rev. William Mallory. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Parker-Washburne-Pannell Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral services for Central City youth
Funeral services for William J. Alexander, 16 years old, were held Wednesday, February 8 at Rhodes Cemetrey at Browder.
Young Alexander died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Alexander in Center Street. The family moved from Drakesboro to Central City about two weeks ago.
Surviving are his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Central City - Mrs. Bertha Allen, 98, of Central City, died Saturday, April 17 at 4:30 p.m. at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. Allen was born in Muhlenberg County on March 12, 1895. She was a housewife and a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Mr. J.B. Allen of Long Beach, California; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Spears of Powderly, Mrs. Alma Jernigan and Mrs. Mareen Mercer both of Nebo.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Houston Noffsinger officiating and the Rev. Curt Yarbrough assisting.
Central City - Clyde Allen, 79, died in the Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville, at 12:45 p.m. Saturday. He was a retired engineer of the Illinois Central Railroad Co., born Jan. 7, 1892, in Muhlenberg County, and was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church.
Surviving are this widow, Mrs. Bertha Allen of Central City; two sons, J.B. Allen and Ray Allen, both of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Allen, Central City; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Sims of Evansivlle, Ind., and Mrs. Flora McDonald of Greenville.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Tucker Funeral Home, by the Rev. Houston Noffsinger, pastor of Woodson Baptist Church, and the Rev. S.A. Kittinger, of Bremen. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The body is at the funeral home.
Mrs. Edith Allen, 47, Dies at Ennis
Ennis - Mrs. Edith L. Allen, 47, died at her home here at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Allen's Chapel with the Rev. John Dye officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born in Muhlenberg and was a member of the Forest Oak Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ferris Allen; son, Howard of Louisville; five brothers, Allie, Lester, Elmer, Elvin and Edward Downing, all of Ennis; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Cartwright of Evansville and Mrs. Maudrie Beliles of Ennis.
Elkton, Ky. - G. W. (Uncle Bud) Allen, 79, died at his home on Route 1 at noon Wednesday, following a lingering illness. He was a retired farmer. Born Jan. 1, 1875, he was a member of the South Carrollton Baptist Church, and the Central Lodge No. 673 F&AM, Central City.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lula Belle Allen; one brother, Ode Allen, Louisville; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Taylor, Caneyville; two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Tucker Funeral Home, the Rev. S.A. Kittinger officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
A Masonic service will be held at the grave. The body was taken to the Tucker Funeral Home.
Central City, Ky., Oct. 11 - Mrs. Susan A. Allen, 90, died at 8 p.m. Saturday at the home of her son, G.W. Allen, on Highway 81. She had been ill for nine months. She is survived by two sons, A.E. Allen, Princeton, Ky., G.W. Allen, Central City, and a daughter, Mrs. Eliza Taylor, of Caneyville; fifty-six grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Burial was at Cecelia, Ky.
Central City, Ky. - Mrs. Elizabeth Joyce Amos, 36, of Central City died Wednesday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Greenville. She was a member of Reservoir Hill Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her husband, James Amos; two sons, Michael and Jeffrey Amos; a daughter, Debra Amos; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Reed and four brothers, James, William, Larry and Jerry Reed, all of Central City, and five sisters, Dorothy Riley of Central City, Helen Negrete and Rachel Martinez, both of Chicago, Sophia Carroll of Whiting, Ind., and Martha Bratcher of Owensboro.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation after 4 p.m. today. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
Central City - James S. Antle, 81, of Route 2, Central City, died Wednesday, July 28, 1993, at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. He was born in Muhlenberg County and was a retired coal miner.
Survivors include his wife, Dellie Antle; a daughter, Wilda Shanks of Central City; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Visitation after 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Armstrong baby buried here Jan. 6
Michael William Armstrong, 20-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Armstrong, died at Cairo Hospital in Cario, Mich. Sunday at 1 p.m.
Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Steven Armstrong; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Littlefield of Central City Route 4 and Mrs. Betty Armstrong of Cookesville, Tenn.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Central City by Alfred Reeves, pastor of the Greenville Church of Christ. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery.
Central City, Ky. - Carrie Lillie Arnold, 85, of Central City, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 1997, at the Maple Manor Nursing Center in Greenville, Ky.
She was born March 20, 1912, in Muhlenberg County, Ky.
She was a homemaker and a member of Browder General Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Billie McKinney of Chicago, Ill., and Maetta VanLandingham of Madisonville, Ky.; one brother, the Rev. Charles Clark of Central City; two sisters, Magdolene Smith of Cleaton, Ky., and Berna Mae Joines of Central City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary C. Arnold Dies At Home In Cleaton
Mrs. Mary Caroline Arnold, 78 years old, died at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her brother, Tommie Cartwright of pneumonia. The funeral was conducted from the residence at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. J.T. Wade in charge. Burial was in the Cleaton cemetery.
Mrs. Mossie N. Arnold, 86, of Owensboro, formerly of Drakesboro, died Monday at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. Born in Logan County, she was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church, near Drakesboro.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Joines, Owensboro, and Mrs. Ona Underwood, Evansville, Ind.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, Clarence Ball, Evansville.

Drakesboro - Martin Tichenor Ashby, 74, of Drakesboro, died Monday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Born in Ohio County, he was a retired store manager for Black Diamond Coal Co. and a member of Walton Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alyce Margaret Ashby; two sons, David Powell Ashby, Louisville, and Melvin Lewis Ashby, Phoenix, Ariz., and three grandchildren.

Tractor takes life of farmer
Thomas Bedford Austin, Jr., found crushed to death under wheel of tractor.
Thomas Bedford Austin, Jr., was found crushed to death on a farm near Skilesville at 1:15 o'clock last Friday afternoon, a farm tractor being over a side of his body.
Austin had been working alone in the field during the day. A neighbor, who had been fighting a woods fire a short distance from the field noticed the tractor had been idle for some time and walked over to the machine, seeing the body of Austin under a wheel. It is believed that the tractor had stalled and Austin was attempting to back up the machine when he became entangled and was pinned to his death. The engine was cold and the time of death was placed about 10:30 by Coroner Lonnie Bryan, who had an inquest over the body. His death was placed as “accidental.”
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Ebezener. Surviving are his widow and four children.
Mrs. Lucille Autry, 47, Dies Aug. 21
Mrs. Lucille Autry, 47, formerly of Central City, died in Pekin, Ill. Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 21.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 25 in Princeton, Ky. with the Rev. Lester Watson officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery at Princeton.
She was a member of the Baptist Church and attended the Faith Baptist Church in Pekin, Ill.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Autry; son, Ronnie Authry of Junction City, Kan.; daughter, Mrs. Jerry Collier of Spencerville, Ind.; two granddaughters; three sisters, Mrs. Gail Smith and Mrs. George Francis of Princeton and Mrs. Kelly Ortkiese of Martin, Ill.; three brothers, Robert Noel of Hopkinsville, Raymond Noel of Pekin and James Noel of Princeton.
