Central City - Mrs. Sarah Ethel Tabb, 72, of the Paradise community, died at her home at 4:30 p.m. Thursday following a long illness.
Surviving are three sons, Orby Tabb, Chandler, Ind., Carl W. and James H. Tabb, both of Paradise; five daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Foster, Mrs. Mae Smith, both of Paradise, Mrs. Joyce Jarvis of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Lou Key of Nelson Creek, and Mrs. Rose Nell Murray of Chandler; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Will Bartlett of Drakesboro, James B. Bartlett, Pittsburg, Ill., and Horace Bartlett of Louisville, and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Hill and Mrs. Hazel Rose, both of Pittsburg, Ill.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. (CST) today at the Paradise Baptist Church. The Rev. Carlos Skaggs will officiate. Burial will be in Highway Cemetery.
The body is at the Parker-Washburne-Pannell Funeral Home at Central City.
Paradise - William W. Tabb, 78, died Sunday at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following an illness of three months.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah E. Tabb; five daughters, Mrs. Mae Smith and Mrs. Elizabeth Foster, both of Paradise, Mrs. Joyce Jarvis of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Lou Key, Nelson, Ky., and Mrs. Rose Murray, Elberfeld, Ind.; three sons, Orby Tabb, Chandler, Ind., Carl W. Tabb and James H. Tabb, both of Paradise; one brother, Virgil Tabb, Louisville; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Carlos R. Skaggs.
Burial will be in the Highway Cemetery, Drakesboro, Ky. The body is at the Parker, Washburn, Pannell Funeral Home, Drakesboro.
Greenville - Mr. Charles James Tabor, 86, of 100 Paxton Drive, died Wednesday, February 28, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mr. Tabor was born in Breckinridge County on July 13, 1903. He was a resident of Greenville for 19 years. He was a retired maintenance worker for the Independent Oil Company in Leitchfield, Kentucky and a member of the Leitchfield Masonic Lodge #236 F&AM in Leitchfield.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Estelle Tabor of Greenville; five sons, Mike Tabor of Leitchfield, Jim Tabor of Louisville, Sonny Dallas of Leitchfield, Norris Grace of Greenville, Lendell R. Grace of Vincennes, Indiana; four daughters, Mrs. Norma Webb of Louisville, Mrs. Sue Douhitt of St. Paul, Kentucky, Mrs. Anna Bivins and Mrs. Barbara Jessup, both of Greenville; 24 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Norton and Mrs. Lucille Carmon, both of Irvington, Kentucky and Mrs. Millie Poole of Covington, Kentucky; two brothers, Hormer Tabor of Cloverport, Kentucky and Harold Tabor of Muldrough, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church in Leitchfield with the Rev. Hobert Eaton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Scott Orr. The body lie in state at the Watkins Funeral Home in Leitchfield for visitation from 1 p.m. until funeral time on Saturday. Burial was in Sanders Cemetery.
Greenville - Mrs. Estelle L. Tabor, 79, of 100 Paxton Drive, Greenville, died Thursday, June 14 at 12:25 p.m. at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville.
Mrs. Tabor was born in Muhlenberg County on April 29, 1911 and was preceded in death by her husband Charles James Tabor who died February 28, 1990. She was a member of the Mud River Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Anna Bivins of Greenville and Mrs. Barbara Jessup of Route 1, Greenville; two sons, Norris Grace of Greenville and Lindell R. Grace of Vincennes, Indiana; one step daughter, Mrs. Norma Webb of Louisville; two step sons, Mike Tabor of Leitchfield and Jimmy Tabor of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16 at 2 p.m. at the Gary Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery.
Oldest Civil War Veteran in County Dies At Depoy
John T. Tanner, 99 years old, a veteran of the Civil War, passes away at his home in Depoy Sunday morning.
At the age of 24 Mr. Tanner enlisted in Co. A 35th Regiment Kentucky Infantry on June 20, 1863, and was discharged on December 29, 1864. He was born and reared in Muhlenberg county. He spent his life on the farm and has been active until the past year. He had only been sick a short while and died of pneumonia.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church, Depoy, Monday afternoon and burial was at Oak Grove cemetery. Six World War veterans in uniform served as casket bearers and a firing squad from Post 61, American Legion, fired the salute.
Only three Civil War veterans survive in Muhlenberg County.
Richard T. Tanner, 86, To Be Buried Friday
Powderly - Richard Thomas Turner, 86, died Wednesday, April 20, at 12:35 a.m. at the home of his niece in Powderly.
He was a retired farmer and was born in Hopkins County on Dec. 15, 1879.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mattie Mae Tanner of Greenville Route 2; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in Greenville, the Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
17-Year-Old Dies in Crash
A Central City youth, Ronald Wayne Tanner, 17, was killed in an auto accident at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 1.7 miles south of Owensboro on U.S. Highway 431, Kentucky State Police report.
Tanner was headed north when the vehible he was driving left the roadway and struck a bridge abutment, a police spokesman said. He was dead at the scene, the result of multiple skull fractures and internal injuries, Allen Harl, Daviess County deputy coroner said.
A fire started in the car after the collision and the Daviess County Fire Department was summoned. But the fire had been extinguished by the time the fire department arrives, a spokesman said.
Tanner was a junior at Central City High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. He was born in Muhlenberg County August 29, 1954.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ernestine Tanner of Central City; his father, Charles Tanner of Lowell, N.C.; a brother, Alton Basco of Lowell, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Pendley and Miss Lisa Tanner, both of Central City; material grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Altha Vincent of Central City and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruby Moore of North Carolina.
Services were held on Tuesday, August 22 at 2:30 p.m. at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. S. A. Kittinger of Bremen officiated and burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Central City, Ky., Feb. 24 - [Special] - Mrs. Ludie Tappan, wife of C. Tappan, of South Carrollton, died Friday after a short illness of pneumonia. She was a most estimable woman, and leaves two sons: Messrs. M.H. and C.W. Tappan, and four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Rumsey, Misses Hazel, Anna and Ludie Tappan, of South Carrollton, and one sister, Mrs. John Wheeldon, of Central City. The funeral occurred Saturday afternoon from the Methodist church, the services being conducted by the Rev. Mr. Shugart, her pastor, from Beaver Dam.
Mrs. Walter Tate, 84, Buried Tuesday
Mrs. Malissa B. Tate, 84, former resident of Central City and Madisonville, died in McAlester, Okla., at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, March 16. She had been ill for almost two months.
She was the widow of the late Walter Tate and had been living a number of years with her daughter, Mrs. Ward Padgett of McAlester.
Surviving in addition to the daughter, are a son, Charles F. Tate Sr. of Louisville; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Madisonville First Baptist Church by Dr. Harold J. Purdy with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Central City - Mrs. Rose L. Tate, 84, died at the home of a son, Bernice Tate, 412 Marshall St., Evansville, at 8 p.m. Monday.
She was born in Muhlenberg County, Aug. 20, 1879, and was a member of the Bevier Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include four sons, Bernice and Bryan Tate, Graysville, Ill., Bennett Tate, Lewisburg, and Buell Tate, Massillon, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Banovic, Central City.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. (CST) Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. A. C. Smith of Evansville, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The body is at the Tucker Funeral Home, Central City.
Oldest Person in County Dies.
Aunt Caroline Taylor, colored, died at the home of Will Reno, near A.M.E. Zion church, at 3 o'clock last Saturday morning, from the ailments incident to extreme age, she being 103 years old, and probably the oldest person in Muhlenberg county. She was born n Breckenridge county in 1807, but had lived in this city most of her life. She was a negro of the o'd school, and had many friends among the whites, as well as her own race. Funeral services were held at the A.M.E. Zion church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. Irvin, being assisted by Rev. Waters, of Madisonville, who formerly lived here. Interment was in the West End cemetery.
Central City, Ky. - Lucian Taylor, 54, of Central City died Saturday at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. He was born in Tennessee and was a member of the St. James AME Zion Church in Central City.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Taylor, at home; four sons, Lucian Taylor Jr. of Bowling Green, John Thomas Taylor of Michigan, Jerry Eugene Taylor and Stanley Wayne Taylor, both of Central City; five daughters, Cordie Mae Jones of Santa Anna, Calif., Doris Powell of Sacramento, Calif., and Joann Taylor, Brenda Joyce Taylor and Donna Lynn Taylor, all of Central City; three grandchildren; a brother, Artemis Taylor of Richmond, Ind.; and a sister, Mary Belle Pendleton of Central City.
Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville, is in charge of arrangements.

Central City, Ky. - Mrs. S.P. Jarvis has received word that her sister-in-law, Mrs. Mabel Taylor, 83, of Marion, Ohio, died in a Marion, Ohio hospital at 11 a.m. Saturday following a long illness.
Mrs. Taylor resided with her only surviving son, Charles Taylor, of Marion.
The body will be returned to the Tucker Funeral Home here Sunday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. E.E. Spickard officiating. Burial will be at South Carrollton, Ky.
Former citizen dies at Whiting, Indiana
Tom Taylor, a former citizen of Central City, died in Chicago on January 9. He was stricken with a paraletic stroke a week previous to his death.
Mrs. Una Taylor, 84, Buried in Greenville
Greenville - Mrs. Una J. Taylor, 84, widow of Vic Taylor, died early Saturday, April 26 here at home. A native of Ohio County, Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Greenville Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert Brown, Martinsburg, W.Va., one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Miss Kate Jones, Greenville.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Gilbert P. Robertson, assisted by Rev. A.B. Gross. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.
